Boss-lady and I got out of work late today. We both caught a bus at the same time. Hers goes right when mine goes left. I get off on a street a little further south than hers, though I think hers goes further west, and she has to walk further than I do. Anyway, I think we both arrived at our respective homes at around the same time.
It has been incredibly hot and dry for the last almost-week. I think it really started last Friday. It's been at least 29C most days (85Fish?) and hit 32C (90F) today, with a forecast of winds picking up, and potential thunderstorms. When we left the mall, the sky was heavily overcast, with lightning playing in the clouds and I could see where it was raining, thought it hadn't started around me yet.
Get off the bus, and it's sprinkling. Stops a minute or two later. Turning around the corner to walk to my building, and all of a sudden, its WINDY AS FUCK. DIRT IS FLYING EVERYWHERE, there are signs being blown clean off their stakes, what looks like a miniature parachute is floating up to what looks like the fourth floor. I hide behind a dumpster for a moment to gather myself and brave the gales bursting down the street and between the buildings. I can't friggin' SEE for all the dirt being blown into my eyes and nose and mouth. It's still in my hair.
Cue EPIC STORM. Okay, maybe it wasn't as epic as the one that ripped through Edmonton in July and brought down part of the CN building, and it probably didn't collapse a stage and kill an innocent concert-goer, but holy heck! I called my boss to make sure she had made it into the house alright lol.
Now its still a little windy, and its not raining, and I can't tell if there's any more clouds. Man, did we ever pick a good time to go home.
