I was cruising along on Nicks and just as I was finishing up the second line of waist elastic casing stitching, the rubber belt that drives the pot motor broke. I had a good run with it! The belt is AT LEAST 10 years old, probably more, and the rubber disc that drives the bobbin winder is also cracked and about ready to give up its mortal coil. I will need to replace those now. I drove the wheel by hand to finish the seam and then set it aside. Still need to finish the seam and stitch it to the skirt, then run elastic and close off the seams. I put it on to see how it looked (no mirror though) and it is delightfully swooshy and light.
Poplina got cut out on Sunday on my ~*~ fancy ~*~ counter height table (kittens got locked out of the room, they were being TOO helpful) and largely stitched yesterday. I opened YouTube for my sub list and it suggested a lawn care account, and I got sucked into that for HOURS. Poplina only needs a hem, buttonholes and buttons. I let out some of the height I'd taken out and yes, I definitely need to add it back in the length, particularly in the sleeves.
Once those are done I don't know what to work on next!! Halp! Halp! That's not entirely true, I found the plaid I wanted to make a skirt with, but that's also more of an autumn-weight project and I guess I could delve into trousers of various sorts but... Halp! Maybe some of the historical projects I wanted to get into?
( Doing an anxiety )
Fireworks last night, and I am close enough to the location where they go off that there was NO MISTAKING the boom boom boom. I wasn't sure how the kittens would react as it was their first go with it, but they were champs. Sophie slept through most of it and Calcifer was curious but unconcerned.
I am v tired today bc I woke up about 25 mins after putting my phone down, and couldn't sleep again right away. Got probably 4 hours. I have a dentist appointment on Thursday and also maintenance is coming that day to repair the bathroom wall/ceiling, so I have to put the curtain back up before then. Today I should find out if my lease is being renewed and if yes, then I am going to put up curtain rods and the shelf by the door! (not actually today bc tired and also no hardware, but very soon).
Oh, on Thursday I took a loooooooooooooooooooong drive to go pick up some yarn, bc I needed more like I need a sprained wrist, but its soooo pretty. Of course I have no idea what I'm going to make with it. I'd like to do a shawl, and I have a couple ideas in mind or perhaps I'll be brave and design one myself. But also, I need to work on the things I DO have going, if only the kittens would let me.
