Sep. 5th, 2024 07:49 amYesterday, I was watching corset-making videos. Why? IDK it's not like I'm going to making a Victorian corset even when I do pick up a project, but it was nice watching them come together. I said that I wanted to make something, but I didn't want to go through the process of picking something out, prepping the pattern, choosing fabric, prepping fabric, and cutting out first.
Friend: I have terrible news
Me: You're gonna tell me I have do all that first, aren't you.
Alas.
On Tuesday I went out with my roomies for cookies and we took a wander through Spirit of Halloween. We made a tentative plan for our Dancing with the Stars watch, which last year I would go to their place and we'd watch it together, largely because I didn't have D+ at the time, and also it was Our Thing We Did As A Household. I do have D+ this year, but I'm still going to watch it at their place with them. A: I miss them a lot. I love being on my own, but especially recently I'm realizing how isolated I've been. B: Uninterrupted knitting time. Hell yeah.
Dinner was an entire cookie (from Crumbl, so we're not talking like ANY OTHER KIND OF COOKIE, we're talking one the size of my hand with my fingers spread). I did make a pack of rice noodles and dressing for the dinner I'd had planned, which I took with me for lunch and then ended up not eating bc there was free food at work. Last night I made a really loose version of pad thai which was delicious, and I have the salad for lunch today. Woo!
In cross stitch land, I have filled in most of the bottom corner, a couple of areas still that need combo colours and the spaces aren't currently big enough to use up a full strand of thread. I'm content to come back to those later with a hoop. Back onto skirt nonsense and starting a lil bit of greenery on the left side (since I am holding on to a combo thread of green and that's been tough enough without adding various blues and beiges to it).
This weekend I will pick up two of my four incoming packages (two only shipped yesterday so I'm sure those will arrive next week). I was going to help my friend with her fabric sale. I really ought to get to work on the stays because the ball is NEXT WEEKEND and I have nothing to wear (lies, I found the last dress I made 5 years ago and at least the sleeves still fit so it should be fine). Am I even going? I don't know, I assumed I would be working it, and no one has said anything about that. Next weekend is also a local yarn event/market, which my yarn buddy can't attend so not sure if I want to go? Especially if I have to attend the ball later in the day? Hmmm...
I decided yesterday that I was going to get the Mitchell trousers cut out. I bought a reclaimed zipper for a matching fabric that I was going to use for this back in MARCH, so it's time, really, to just do it. Stop waffling and get cracking as one of my YouTube yard clean-up guys says. Even if the daytime temps reach Really Stinkin' Hot (high 20s C expected this weekend), it's still September and cooler days are coming.
