It's a Tu- Tudor summer~
Sunday night I was awake FAR too late reading fanfiction (for a series I know almost nothing about) and had to wake up FAR too early for work, so I was redonk tired when I got home and took a nap. I had finished my audiobook and don't have a new one picked out yet, so clearly the best use of my time on the bus ride home was to read about medieval kirtles, right?
Well, a convoluted story short, some peeps I'm chatting with have decided to do a 16th c. focus group in the next while. Most of us have lots on the go and there's no firm deadlines or anything. I spent my morning looking up German-focused resources bc I'm reasonably confident my family eventually immigrated from there. But WHERE exactly? Ehhhh not sure, and pretty sure I only found that out bc a friend let me use her Ancestry.com account. That was nearly 5 years ago already, and all I can remember is the one branch.
On the weekend I was cleaning up my table and putting things away, so I pulled out all of the wool pieces I have easy access to. Most of them were from my aunt's stash, and she did a lot of early SCA costuming (her family was Danish) so it would likely be suitable for that. I did a quick draft for a "half-fitting princess lining" to test out a pattern modification, which got confusing real fast because the manual I was working from had 2 sets of labels for the same pattern. It also drafted down to the hip, which I was not using. I was feeling relatively confident to head into mock-up stage, but the cat came and yelled at me, so I went upstairs to cuddle him and take a nap. I haven't gotten back to it yet.
Camp NaNoWriMo is over. I've started to post my story. The middle chapters still need a few things added before I can finish that, so hopefully will get that sorted soon.
