ahhh winter in alberta, when the gentle breezes blow...

My friend warned me that it was supposed to be really cold today. And yesterday, for that matter. I shouldn't go outside, she said, but I had to. I had to go to work. The Weather Network's website said that, yesterday morning, it was -33 with windchill, and snowing.

OK, I thought, I can handle that.

I was NOT prepared for snow-drifts up to my KNEES, and a wind vicious enough to make me take my glasses off, because they fogged over with my expelled breath and didn't clear. Never was I so happy to make it into the mall. I took the bus home.

And today was supposed to be worse. Do you know how cold it is? -21C. Do-able. With windchill? MINUS FIFTY ONE. -51C. The celcius and farenheit scales cross over at -40, so I'm sure even all you Americans can appreciate that -51 is FUCKING COLD.

I'm taking the bus today ><;;;;;;

And up until now I'd just thought you Canadians were pussies about the cold! ;)
