I am also terrified to cut into fabric (any fabric) for the 18th century dresses I want to make. I've been in love for many many years and I finally completed my stays, and I fitted a muslin and now all I have to do is pick out the fabric I want to use and just... do it. I was going to use a nice heavy green linen but I thought I had a lot more of it than I do. There's only 2.5m.

Today I found Jenny's adorable jacket and I could probably knock that out no problem! :) I don't think the lack of a matching petticoat would be an issue... I'm just so indecisive! It's a new era and I'm so scared of doing it "wrong". Everything I can think of is upper-class, and most of my costuming in the last little while has been decidedly middle- to lower-class. I think I need a bit more research.

But only a bit. I can't waffle forever! I bought some awesomely pink linen/cotton fabric at the New Year's sale that I was going to make underpinnings with, and now I'm pondering a full gown instead.
