I, also, do not like bothering people who are out of office on vacation, but other people want it. It's hard to break the golden rule. Instead of "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you", it's more of "Do unto others as they want to be done." Work kink (some people want the pain?). It's easier for me if I can just send it in an email because then it's up to them whether they are checking their work emails. Calling is harder.
