(no subject)

At our new years party, we watched the SkyOne production of Terry Pratchett's Hogfather. Most of us agreed, it was hard to get into at first, but by the time the first half was over (all 90 minutes of it), we could hardly wait to start part 2.

It stuck in my head, and I finally went and bought the book. I finished it the other day. It's the kind of book I only wish I could write. Why have I never read Terry Pratchett before?? (Pst, what other books should I check out?)

I decided that next year, I will not have Christmas celebrations. I will have Hogswatch :D I'm pondering ways to get robins to stick to the cards.

Anything set in Discworld is marvellous. And the beauty of it is that you really don't have to read them in any sort of order (it makes a little more sense if you do, but most of them are fairly self contained). I recommend the stuff focussed on Granny Weatherwax and the witches, or anything in which Death plays a major role. (I think Soul Music and Moving Pictures are a couple of those...) *nods sagely*

Buy them ALL. DO NOT, however, judge the whole series on say, the first two. There's only a few that don't do too much for me, the majority of them are just Frigging AWESOME. Buy them and read them before Terry Pratchett succumbs to his recently diagnosed, horribly rare form of Alzheimer's and cannot write anymore. *sniff*
