Sewing!
I've been working on an English gown for tje past couple weeks and it's sooooo close to being done! I was feeling like crap today so I spent most of it sleeping, but I did get the hem trimmed and the cuffs placed. I even put on ALL THE LAYERS to try it all on! Just a few hours of sewing left and it's done.
That got me thinking about future projects. I want to make wool stays. I've got a nice piece of mustard suitweight wool to use as the outer layer. I have enough mid-weight linen to use in the middle layers. What pattern shall I try? I didn't get in to the pattern test that went around the social media a couple of weeks ago (I'm a little bummed, but whatever). I have the costume close-up pattern enlarged without adjustments and Ralph Pink's half-boned stays (which are no longer available, and I believe they are a straight up copy from Norah Waugh). Or i could get really ambitious and draft some. I had a chance to look at PoF 5 and I'm curious to try some of the bits I may or may not remember well.
I'd say please talk me out of hand stitching them, but the English gown is 100% hand stitched and I enjoyed the slow aspect of it so much, I'm thinking about more.
So much for Victorian costuming this year lol
