Shipping fails

I had my fancy pens and ink shipped to my work address because it's winter, and I didn't want a package to sit on my step for potentially hours and freeze. Y'all, UPS cannot get their shit together. It's been "out for delivery" three times (as of today), and around 5pm it reverts to "on the way" with "end of day" still listed, before changing to "we'll update the estimated time closer to the actual delivery!"

This morning I discovered that this changes around 3am. My office is open 7:30-4:30, so why the fuck can they not get it here on time. If it doesn't come today, I will sign up for a fucking UPS account and have it redirected to the house. Even if it sits on the step for a few hours, it's better than another day of waiting for the UPS guy to never show up.

I also ordered some fandom related things, one of which is for my roommate, and it was delivered yesterday, but they left a notice instead of the package. I have to go to the worst post office in the world, a drive through. Y'all, it is -33 C right now (IDK what that is in F. It's fucking cold) and I am NOT driving my car anywhere. It'll be warmer in a few days, but it's fucking Christmas and the post office-slash-couriers will be closed!

Shipping fails :( I just want my murder children and fancy ink!

Yup! And as you can appreciate, it's fucking cold!! I have warm boots and a warm coat (seriously so glad I purchased that last year) and wooly accessories that while not all that thick do a great job of insulating inside other things (namely the coat). I just really need something to protect my legs!

*snuggles under the blankets and hugs the tea thermos* thank youuuuu I shall enjoy this warm thought until i can actually get under blankets with a cup of tea!

Hm, when I'm very cold, I usually wear leggings/sport pants under my jeans, and another thing: wool shoe inlays are a heaven sent, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them as the cold comes "up" from the soles.

I don't wear jeans in my day to day life (corporate office culture = dress pants) not to mention getting anything that fits over my ass and also is loose enough for an underlayer will result in Very Bad Gender Feels aAnd Also Textures On My Body. Meatsuits are the worst. I bet even one of the wool skirts I made for the 1920s project would be better than nothing.

I do wear wool socks in my boots, and I have an ergonomic liner in them, but that's mostly because the boot lining itself is destroyed. I'd like to replace them with something less... clompy.

Oh, yeah, I get that, sometimes I am afraid someone will notice me wearing leggings under my pants and how that is not A Manly Thing. But comfyness before the opinions of others!

How exactly does UPS not get to a BUSINESS location? Residential, yeah, no one cares about the plebes, but business accounts are IMPORTANT.

I wondered if it has a separate route for "business" and "not-business" but that shouldn't matter? Like when it's being sorted and put onto trucks it should just be "the route"? I know the residential guys come closer to 530 because I see them all the time in my 'hood, but the business guys come at like 11. I do not get it at all, and I am SO MAD. (well yesterday I was mad, today I am resigned, and all the time I am disappointed.)

As Mala says, shipping is borked currently. However, at least in the USA, business shipping is often separated from residential shipping and gets preferential delivery, meaning it tends to arrive earlier in the day.

Shipping is just a total shitshow lately. I've had such a random mix of good and bad shipping in the past month. I hope that your fancy writing utensils get to you soon!

-33C sucks. I think that it's somewhat close number-wise to F. I know that -40 is the same in both. But that is too damn cold for this time of year! That is January weather, not December weather. *harrumph* Wool long underwear (underneath pants) is my go-to for extra cold weather. And a big, fluffy scarf. And wool socks. Maybe you could use leg warmers?

My sassy weather app said it was about -22F, but I think we can all agree that once you hit a certain point, cold is cold is cold lol.

Today I wore joggers, the kind made with sweatshirt material. It was better than nothing! I used to wear a pair like that all the time but they finally kicked the bucket lol. I still think I'd like to get proper outdoor pants, this cold is supposed to break by the weekend so it's almost a non-issue at this moment. Everything wool!! I did not break out the alpaca scarf though, my regular woolies were fine lol.
