KITTENS + stuff

Nice quiet weekend. I visited the kittens on Friday. One of the soot sprites is VERY adventurous despite not being able to see and is constantly trying to escape. I also destroyed mama's sense of safety enough that she decided to move the babies lol. But I picked them all up and made sure each one got handled and cuddled. They need to get used to it!

Knitting needle was found! It was in the couch but on the other side of the cushion that I expected it to be. But I was already wrist deep into a new pair of socks, so I worked on those instead. It's been awhile since I did a toe-up, so even thought I could have reversed the pattern for cuff-down, I decided to just go with it.

I worked on the last of the smocking embroidery (picture forthcoming) and even got the collar lining put on OOOOH AAAAAH. I pinned one gusset into place but was quite over pokey needles stabbing themselves deep enough to get stuck in my thumb so put it aside to knit.

Roomie M and I both spent several hours on the puzzle that has been on the table for a month. We're solidly halfway done now, there's a clear demarcation of the lower half being 100% complete. She came home with another 2000 pc puzzle last week, so this will be ongoing. I don't mind, I've been enjoying having one on the go! It's nice to sit down and take some time away from the online world, or to spend 5 minutes while waiting for coffee to brew.

I did work on my pants fitting a little. I stitched up the seam I had left open and then pinned and pinned and pinned and pinned... Decided to take measurements, and like *really* took measurements. Tied ribbon around my waist to help with finding the rise measurement, took sitting and standing measurements, took the circumference of my belly, measured (with some guesswork) front and back waist.

The pattern I was fitting just isn't the right one for me. I decided to cut down the back waist facing to a 16 from a 20, which WAS a good decision because it then sat flush against my body and didn't shift around. I could remove most of the added fabric at the waist, and probably at the lower leg, but I need it for my butt and thigh. Definitely need the height at CB and CF to account for extra length over bum and belly. I put the "standard" full bum adjustment at CB but recalled that Cashmerette had a different way of doing it, bc the "standard" way removes a little width. I might attempt this with this pattern, or I might say PAH and just go back to the Meriam trousers which are already drafted for people with asses. Or maybe attempt to use the fuller-bodied pattern rather than the "average" one, which I topped out the range on.

Am home alone tonight, mostly, but I didn't really sleep last night so we will see how much brain power I have for anything.
