T-12 days

might be easier for me to keep track of.

I am trying to remember Friday. It's lacking. I think I packed another box of books. I definitely went grocery shopping, where it was FILLED with people who evacuated from up north, it was raining, our dinner was delicious. I listed a few things for sale on facebook.

Saturday someone came to look at my dining table chairs, and then decided to take the table too. We found a couple of empty boxes, one with packing paper, in the garage, so I packed my mug collection and some utensils and baking items. I packed my yarn collection (it has grown quite a bit in three years o.o). I packed a couple boxes of soft things, like blankets and "current sewing". I had a nap and dyed my hair.

And I had insomnia. So I was awake until QUITE late until I set a sort of white noise sound on my phone, whereupon I did sleep a little. I woke up at 5:15 thinking I had missed my alarm and therefore my call.

But I did not! And y'all, I should have prepared more. My opening bit of "hi i wrote some novels" took a whopping 30 seconds and then I was like "welp, that's all I got". He asked me some questions about writing and what I like to read, and then I had the Red White & Royal Blue book standing on a shelf behind me and he asked if I'd seen the movie and what I thought. And then it was time! The hosts snapped our screenshot and I was kicked out of the call. Poor guy looked so tired, I hope he's feeling better.

Was useless the rest of the day thanks to the insomnia, because I was so tired. I read for a bit, watched some movies, really wanted to knit but I'd packed most of my projects already and didn't want to do the ones I had out, so I told myself I could start a new one IF it used the things I hadn't packed. And I settled on a sweater I'd purchased yarn for literally an hour before I was furloughed in the early covid days, for a pattern and designer I no longer support. I bought it with the pullover version in mind, but the yarn isn't really the kind I like to have close to my neck in particular, and I really would get more wear out of the cardigan, so I decided to tackle a technique I wanted to learn and steek it! Steeking, for those unaware, is where you reinforce and then CUT your knitting (deep breaths). Should be a fun project. I've already messed up 3x, requiring going back to fix it. I thought the second one I could fix just by dropping stitches down and getting it back up, but looking at the pattern this morning, mistake #3 requires going back quite far. So, I'll work on that on my lunch break.

Finished The Witcher S3 while I knit. What the fuck was that bullshit? That did not need to be a two-parter season.

In my early knitting days I really traumatized someone experienced by talking about steeking. Like, it's a legitimate thing, there are instructions and everything, why are you so wrought about my saying I might steek something I haven't made yet?

LOL

According to people who know better than I (which is to say, read the books), the second half of S3 is much closer to the books. I enjoyed the party and then it sort of ... what the hell happened?

Glad you had your call <3
