Happy mail day

I purchased more yarn (facepalm). It was such a pretty peachy colour and was very inexpensive (it was the last three skeins of a discontinued colourway) and I immediately knew what I would make with it, so I bought it. My other purchases have not shipped yet, I am waiting on tenterhooks!

My Kindle was expected to arrive on Wednesday, and it shipped Canada Post. My complex put up signs reminding people to remove their mail promptly to discourage theft, because unfortunately the buildings are not secure and porch pirates have been very bold (according to my community Facebook group). Great, I thought, I'll get a pick up note and it'll be fine!

HA! Walked in the building to discover a little box at my door, which was the Kindle. I breathed a huge sigh of relief, of course had to immediately open it, and got it loaded before I had to leave for the holiday job.

I bought this so I could also read library books, so imagine my annoyance THIS MORNING to read a Thread about how Kindle doesn't even allow Libby (the library app) on their device, where Kobo does! GRRRRR. I JUST BOUGHT THIS. Ok, self, deep breaths, it's not the end of the world. I already downloaded some Kindle Unlimited books (the Thread was about "boycotting" KU specifically, and how it doesn't work, the Zon does not care if you cancel your account, they just take the money out of authors' royalties) and will read them soon. It's not ideal, and I must look into how KU pays their authors. Several indie authors publish via Amazon and Kindle and commented that the significant portion of their income comes from those royalties. So yeah, I'm annoyed about it all, but I'm going to do my best to make sure I'm using it conscientiously.

My house is a mess after a week of ignoring it thanks to insomnia and illness, and my next few days are so busy still, it's going to be Friday before I can really look at it! I'm going to try to get a bucket of dishes done tonight, it doesn't have to be everything, it just has to be SOMETHING. (I told my delivery driver this today and he was like "meh. It'll still be there" and he's so right hahaha)

If you like modern supernatural horror, I really enjoyed the Pitchfork County series. It's like harder Harry Dresden.
