Aug. 30th, 2009 12:02 pmYesterday was a lot of fun :) The train was pretty awesome, and definitely inspiring for the steampunk novel I will likely end up writing this year. Mum and I were the only people (naturally) who were not staff and dressed up lol. I got a lot of compliments and "how do you sit down?" (really, the "how do you go pee?" question was a lot more relevant). We got "robbed" almost at Big Valley, and we gave the robber with the prettiest horse our money. The buffet roast beef lunch we had was DELICIOUS. The gravy was delicious, even on the coleslaw XD
But after lunch, I was in a lot of pain from the corset :( (remember how I mentioned that it doesn't fit right? Yeah) I was going to try and wait out the return ride so we could take a group picture, but we finally ended up commandeering a train employee to take a picture for us, and then Mum and I took over a bathroom to get me into normal clothes (that I thankfully had brought on the train, instead of leaving them behind). Ohhhh that was sooo nice.
I don't know what to do with the outfit. I need to finish my new corset to see what kind of lacing I can do before I decide, but if I can't squish down comfortably anymore, I will try to rework the bustle to fit my new waist size, and just sell the pieces I already have.
We stopped to see my grandparents in Camrose on the way back, briefly. I was really upset last week to learn that my grampa hasn't been feeling well, because they are both 79 years old, and the knowledge of their mortality has never been a comfortable thought for me. I could have 20 years with them left, but it could be 20 weeks just as easily. And that really goes for anyone I know, from my friends' 11-year-old daughter to either of my grandparents to any of my social circles. I think we saw them in March, 'cuz I remember telling Gramma about my Vegas trip and the Grand Canyon, but I haven't been able to see them since, and the time before that was Thanksgiving last year. Which it almost is again. Grampa said he was feeling better right now at least, so we're going out today to help him with some yardwork. I'm just waiting for dad to come get me :)
(but he told them about why I was upset yesterday when I saw them, cuz I totally cried, so I can expect some chats and a whole lot more tears today.)
Tell someone today that you love them. You never know when you might be able to again.
Since I got up yesterday at 4am (well, awake since) and I didn't get to nap at any point during the day, Dad dropped me off at 8:30, I had a Pizza Pop (almost at my yearly quota! lol) and some crackers and an ice cream bar for dessert, watched a bit of a movie, and then went to bed at 9:30. I slept until 4am, when I woke up for two hours again, went back to sleep around 6, Guido woke me up at 6:20, back to sleep before 7, and finally got up at 7:50 because my boss and her mom were picking me up so we could all go to Walmart :) If at any point in the next two weeks, I complain about not wanting to eat my lunch, she is to hurt me, cuz I spent $100 on food @@ I'm going to make spaghetti tonight, I think.
And when we got in, I cleaned my kitchen, and emptied all the gross food containers in the fridge, and ran the dishwasher, which just finished. I hope when we get back, I'll have enough energy to vaccuum and make some marshmallow peanut butter bars :)
