Apr. 9th, 2014 07:58 pmSo, today the Calgary Comic Expo announced that Matt Smith was coming. The internet collectively lost its mind. Including me. He's my favourite Doctor since Tom Baker, this was something I just couldn't not-go to now! But Saturday passes have been sold out for months, and there was no info yet on times, so I bought a Sunday pass anyway, just in case. But now they've announced that he will be there on Friday and Saturday, but not Sunday. So... I was willing to pull out the last of the money in my savings bonds and pull some other strings and make it work, but if the person I want to see the most is not going to be available on the only day I can go... is it worth it?
Pros:
There's still other people I'd like to see (Manu Bennett, even though I'll probably be laughing my ass off picturing him naked, Peter S Beagle though he's supposed to be at the Last Unicorn showing that I have a ticket for??, and Cam Clarke, whom I'd just like to tell that I've been in love with his voice since I was like, 6)
There's lots of friends to see too!
There's a small chance another day will be added, though I seriously doubt it...
Cons:
Even if I only go for one day, without any photo ops or autographs or anything, I still have to feed myself, and all the other expenses associated with travelling. I managed to go the whole three days last year on $60, but partly because I was volunteering and I got one meal from the green room, and because my friends are awesome and I think I paid for breakfast once. I would rather not spend that money if I don't "have" to. This is big enough to counter-balance all the pros, especially since I wasn't planning on going until Matt was announced. If I planned my budget right, I have $60 for 15 days with which to keep myself fed. I have 2 movies to go to as well.
I have to decide before tomorrow if I want to get a refund on my ticket. So much pressure!
