We had Grampa's funeral yesterday. He didn't want a big ceremony or anything, and it was a very short service at the graveside. It was also very lovely, and a lot more people showed up than I thought would. I didn't and don't know a lot of the extended family despite a lot of them living in the area, but it's clear that Grampa touched many many people's lives, and I was so grateful to see them all and hear how loved he was.
Maybe it's a little strange to consider, but when I woke up this morning, I just felt so at peace with everything. Last Thursday honestly felt a million years long, and the days after and especially going back to work monday was so long and kind of a blur. But today, up way too early and watching the sun rise and listening to the birds, I felt so peaceful. Like Grampa had been here, and now he was safely gone, and I didn't need to worry or be concerned. I don't know how else to describe it. If one thinks of a quiet Sunday morning with a cup of coffee in hand and just enjoying the moment as it happens. Peaceful. I am so grateful.
I love you and I miss you, Grampa. Thank you for everything you gave me.
