Hurry up and wait!
Oct. 10th, 2015 10:37 amMaking a big meal is a lot of "hurry up and wait" lol. I picked up the things I needed last night (note for the future: buy turkey a little sooner than "the day before you want to cook it". Sure it was partially defrosted already, but it was also $2.29/lb when it was $0.87/lb on Tuesday, plus you get more selection than "15lbs or more"). Today I realized that I had given away my large roaster in the spring, and the medium size I kept wasn't big enough. Dad has a large one at least, but next year I will be better prepared! This morning I made pie dough and then pies, one of which is baking now and the other will be soon (so that I don't have to fuss with them later; I also made 2 pies because Dad gave me some canned mixes, one of which was "best before" 7 YEARS AGO, but it smells OK, and then just in case, there is another one, and if it turns out that it really is awful, I still have another crust and enough makings for one more pie) and did all my old dishes. Turkey is in the sink but doesn't need to go in for a few more hours, and then it will be a couple hours after that before I need to start making the rest of supper.
I guess I have time to be working on my stays :) And I'll need to clean off the table so we can eat at it later, but that can wait for a bit yet.
