Well my day got a lot more exciting when a piece of my tooth broke off D: Hi ho, it's off to the dentist I go...

Not pictured: the hour of panic and crying as I wondered WTF to do. Call my dentist? Of course his office is closed, it's Sunday, and the emergency directions on their website just kick me around their automated system. Make an appointment for ASAP through his website and also let them know that it's Really Really Important? What do I choose? Check up? Consultation for Denture Extraction? Root canal/filling/extraction? Go to an emergency place that IS open on Sundays and will be for 2 more hours at that time but who doesn't know my history and may or may not be willing to work with me on payment? (cuz like I have the necessary money that my benefits don't cover, when I am scraping pennies together out of the couch cushions to have food on my table this week) Turns out they probably would have (as per their website) but I didn't call them because I found a chart that described different dental emergencies, symptoms that may result and what to do. I am not in pain, so I decided to see my actual dentist, and I'm really confident he'll see me ASAP. He wanted me to get this taken care of 6 months ago but I put it off because of the money issues. I left a message with my dentist to call me ASAP, and I will also follow up with them in the morning, and then messaged my boss to let her know that I don't have contact info for the office I'm in but I will be late because HOLY SHIT A PIECE OF MY TOOTH BROKE OFF.

Now I am like WTF do I eat? The chart also said to eat a soft diet until you can get the tooth looked at/repaired/removed/something. I have leftover tuna pasta from yesterday, but then I have nothing else to eat for lunch at work besides coleslaw, and I can't see that being ideal to eat while on a soft diet. I can make more pasta for tonight, but is tuna something I want to take to work? (my regular office has people who heat up fish but this one is smaller and I don't want to be That Guy)

I would also be much less concerned about getting to see my dentist if I was at my regular office, but I am not. Parking downtown is too expensive, so I will have to drive to the office (and may just turn up on their doorstep for 8am) and then come back and leave my car at home again. No rest for the wicked.

I gave that basic-model Brother machine to my dad, since I suddenly recalled that he'd complained that his old Singer wasn't working. I offered to take a look at it, since I am interested in learning to repair machines. All he said was that the thread would tangle underneath, so I took the bobbin assembly apart (maybe it wasn't in right, I couldn't get the ring to come out nicely), blew it out with air, and put it all back together. It's got some minor tensioning issues, but otherwise it sews a nice set of stitches. We had the sales receipt for it at one point -- February, 1981. It's a Singer 5123, with an NL serial number, but all I've been able to find out so far is that it was manufactured in Taiwan, some time after 1963.

While I was sewing yesterday, somehow my fabric got pulled under the throat plate and into the feed dogs. How did that even happen?! It was weird and I laughed about it. I made the pre-cut fabric into bags, but they're really only good for holding a ball of yarn and not much else. On the plus side, doing that ought to minimize the amount of cat hair that comes into contact with the yarn while I knit it.
