I'm sitting here mostly paralysed with indecision. Now that I don't know what to do with my Saturday plans, I can't make a plan at the moment. The reason I wouldn't bring Jareth is because I need an hour or so to do the makeup, plus a bunch of jewels are still falling off and I haven't had/made opportunity to fix that. So now what?? I still want to keep my packing light. So that means bringing more 18th c. stuff, since all of my other Victorian needs a bustle and I don't want to bring it. But all of the 18th c. stuff was fitted over my other stays. I don't have extra shifts (unless I bring the Regency one). I planned the white dress as day wear so it has no trimming. I really DO NOT have time to make something else. Maybe the best option would be to bring the Regency gown and vest as I think it would be relatively easy to manipulate my hair into a 'do for that, but the dress has light uneven staining that won't come out. Plus extra undergarments. So... what do?

I got the skant mostly together, and all it needs right now is hems. Of course while I was sewing it, my machine started acting up and now it's making a terrible clunking noise. it does not fit especially well, even after letting out as many seams as I could. I'm not sure how to adjust the fit for my belly, and I definitely don't have time to do so right now.

I need to move forward, NOW, and I wish I knew what steps to take!

ETA: One of my companions is only bringing two costumes and spending the rest of the time in civvies, and I'm starting to think that's a good idea. Of course I still have so much hand work to do (the rest of the habit shirt and the bits for the white gown) that makes it especially appealing.

I would say bring what doesn't take a lot of prep between now and then. Do you have time to try on your 18th c stuff over the new stays? Maybe it will still fit. Or would bringing the bustle dress mean a whole other suitcase? If not, I don't see much sense in the advantage of packing lite, but that might just be me. ;)

Definitely whichever are most comfortable! Are they different eras?

Yeah, definitely don't fly down there with already overweight baggage. That said, if you do buy lots of fabric, maybe you could ship it home? Not sure how much that would be to Canada, though... (or get a cheapo suitcase in the fabric district and check an extra bag?)

And yeah, if your stays are small, then you have options!

Clearly you need a bigger suitcase! You can probably check up to 50 lbs in one bag. I know that's the standard in the US.
