More sleeves

totchipandaSaturday morning, I was already awake when the fire alarm started going off. I'm so desensitized to fire alarms after 13 years in the mall, the fire station is half a mile away (760 metres according to google maps), and I'm right above the front door, that I usually don't bother to evacuate. But I decided that THIS time, since I was already up, I'm going to do it. Even though the weather is bitterly cold and it was like -35C. I got dressed, stuffed Guido into his carrier, and went downstairs.
Well, it was not a fire. It was a burst pipe. I hung out in the lobby with a few other people, and the nice firemen sent us back upstairs before too long. It was 4:30 AM. I was SO not sleepy now, so I put on some movies on Disney+ and went back to my tucker. I finished most of it before I went back to bed around 7am for a nap. After I got up again, got those last bits done AND stitched it all onto the new gown. It's so pretty <3 I kind of want to start on some new stuff but my next plans are pocket hoops and I wanted to admire the finished gown a bit longer so I moved on to other stuff.
I narrowed a pre-quilted petticoat I made in 2017, because an extra 10" made a big difference over how it lay! It used to collapse around my legs and it wasn't very pretty, but just taking that out really helped. I also said "fuck it" and just serged the new seam closed.
On Sunday, I tried to fix up an old cosplay project, but eventually decided it wasn't salvagable, so rescued the zipper and pitched the rest. Then I tackled my jacket sleeve again. It is... well. First I decided to drape a sleeve on myself, which was kind of fun, if pokey. That sleeve looked a lot like my BFF sleeve so I compared the two, and they're nearly identical. Then more sleeve comparisons and the sleeve i drafted for the jackt is just not quite right for me. The elbow is in completely the wrong place (I used that sleeve for a couple other projects with poor results, and now I know why!). I started laying out some pieces to add on where it needs to be added, and then it was nap time. And "doing nothing" time for the rest of the evening.
Productive weekend. I didn't have many plans, but I cancelled the few I did have because it was -40 for most of it. No thanks!
