I HAVE A (maybe) BETTER IDEA :D

Ok, there is a little backstory that needs to be involved. Pretty much everyone involved was supposed to be faeries. I don't know how much of that I'm going to keep just yet, but sometimesm I think I just focus too much on the WHY and don't let things just come naturally.

So, instead of being dudes, what if they are neither sex, and then for whatever reason, can become one or the other at some point later in life? I haven't figured out the little details yet, such as why it occurs, or why they would need to change, and... other stuff. It's a pretty important detail for at least 4 characters though, so I really need to figure it out.

Maybe because their food source and nesting areas experience great change, so their gender evolves based on need. Alligator genders are based on temperature. *frowns* But I remember hearing something about a type of lizard that will change genders if there aren't enough of the opposite gender. (So if the females were feeling lonely, one of the other females would grow male gonads and fill the need and visa versa.)

So I suppose the real question is just how humanoid are your faeries?

I know clownfish are all born male, and then the most dominant one becomes female. If she dies, the next most dominant one changes...

Hmmm those are some good options to consider, though. Thanks :3 They're very humanoid, but I think that was just to pass off using all my favourite j-rock boys and have some kind of fantastical arise out of it.
