I had plans for this weekend, that primarily involved cleaning today and trading entertainment centres with
koosei (mine is gigantic, I want something smaller, hers is smallish, she wants something bigger) tomorrow. We've been talking about it for well over a year now, so we finally set a date. We needed to have my dad help too, since he has the vehicle space to actually move mine. My sister built it in school and it's HUGE. Dad was driving an early-90s Ford Crown Victoria at the time, a huge boat of a car with a large trunk, and it wouldn't fit, he had to shove it in the back doors. There is no WAY it's going to fit in my little Kia sedan, and Koo's vehicle, if it was running, is also a sedan. Dad has a minivan. Ideal! Yeah let's do this!
Except the temperature this weekend decided to plummet to around -30C, but ONLY for the weekend. Monday it's forecasted back up to the more recent pattern of -10ish. Since we are not cruel people to make others spend time outside when we don't want to either, we pushed it back again. We WILL get this done. Just not this weekend. Brrr!!
I woke up with a migraine, my own fault for not drinking enough last night. So a part of me is a little glad, so that I don't have to Go Hard at the tidying I need to do to get this thing out of here. I am definitely taking my tree down today, but I'm not 100% convinced I'll get into the closet to put it away. Although, leaving it out but boxed would have worked better if the centre was leaving tomorrow. I might put it away after all. My idea was to leave it out and then when I put it away, work a bit on getting the closet organized/cleaned out.
I went through my CD box the other day, since i finally tired of tripping over it. It was REALLY heavy, I had no idea CDs weighed so much. I tossed a bunch of old cds (things like a newsletter template... for Windows 3.1), put a bunch in a pile destined for Value Village, a smaller pile for Dad to look at, and then took a good look at the rest. I'm keeping all of my Japanese and Korean CDs, so I organized those in a smaller box. I decided to get rid of most of the bootlegs I'd bought when the internet was young, and a lot of the discs I'd burned pre-iPod. That box will get labelled and stored in the closet. I spent a long time ripping most of them to the laptop a few years ago, and I don't listen to any of those bands with the frequency I used to to really notice if a song or two is missing. Oh, maybe I will make a catalogue of them first. That should be easy enough since I stored them with their spines up :)
Organizing them really took me back. I used to spend entire days listening only to those CDs. I remember when I got Finale in the mail, it went into my stereo (that I still have) and stayed there for weeks and I listened to t non-stop. The CD player is busted now, after a move several years ago, or the discs would be a lot more relevant to my life! But oh man, the joy they brought me, I still remember. Then last night I was trying to come up with a track listing for a disc I'd made that I'd only labelled with a few band names, and man, such nostalgia. I started going through my iTunes library to find more songs I remembered having fondness for. I really need to organize that some day, make sure everything has a name and an album and a genre. That is a HUGE project though, so it's not happening any time soon!
So that's my weekend. Cleaning cleaning cleaning, knitting, hopefully some sewing, and adoring the cat. It's so bright and sunny out, but it's cold enough to freeze your Winnebago, so inside I shall stay :)
