Eugh, I just went back and read my first year on this journal O_o It was really awful! It WAS started as a doll journal, but man, it's just full of 24-year-old me before she got her shit sorted out. That was a time in my life when I was still really angry and angsty and feeling ALL OF THE THINGS. The personal LJ I was also keeping at the time is still up but flocked and it's even WORSE to read. I keep them up for various reasons but I really should remember not to go back and read those early entries. I'm amazed I had any friends at all.

I got to about the end of 2006 before I got bored. I recall moving most of my personal stuff over to this journal around the time I had to put my cat down (10th anniversary this year), because I had posted about it on the other one, and no one said anything, and that was really Too Much at the time. The entries were a little easier to read after that. Hopefully won't do that again lol.

I decided to do it because I logged into the doll forum for the first time in probably 8 years to poke around. It was so weird! And I was also reading snarky book recaps, and then realized that, partway through chapter 3, the totally awkward character interactions were literally the same as a book I wrote a few years ago. IT WAS SO BAD Y'ALL. I need to edit! (It was probably terrible because I leapt in with both feet like I do every November and my characters are never fully developed before I start, but it was really uncomfortable to realize!)

I got my entertainment centre mostly exposed today, but I'm glad we've put off the moving for a bit yet. I need to vacuum all the dust off it, it's really awful, but I finished it too late to run the vacuum. Guido and I had a nice nap, and I made and listened to a 3-hour J-rock playlist that really took me back. Actually, now that I think about it, I stopped being as hard-core into J-rock about the time I got into dolls. I remember (and then read, ugh) spending SO MUCH TIME immersed in the doll community that it was literally all I did after work (since I didn't have access at work, and good thing, cuz I never would have gotten anything done). So that's a thing I will do tomorrow.

I'm supposed to go out tomorrow, and I do need to make a small shopping trip, but I really don't want to :( It's going to be so cold still. I could get away with the oh... one thing I DESPERATELY need to pick up at 7-11, but it will be WAY overpriced compared to where else I could go, so I might as well suck it up buttercup and just go out.

Also, I was convinced I was out of butter, but I found half a block in the bottom of the fridge tonight. I don't know why it was in the bottom and not the drawer. And a little strange because how long has it been there? Thanksgiving? Mid-December? I'm not entirely sure I don't have a butter fairy, or possibly aliens.

I braved the outside world for a short period of time to run a fast errand. I was supposed to go to Nicole's today, but tooooo cold. It'll be nicer for the rest of the week, more like minus-single-digits, not -24C and another -10C windchill. BRR!

As I sat on the couch at one point, I realized there was no way in heck I was going to look at the Christmas tree box for however long, so I put it away. I was going to store the CD box away too, but it's currently stored behind some other boxes and is supporting a basket, so I left it for now. Then I got down to vacuuming all the dust off the top of the entertainment centre. And once that was done, it was time to do the floor! Guido sheds a fair amount even with his winter coat, and there's cat litter tracked onto it, and I pulled out Dad's curtain-coat, which LOVES to shed little blibs of velvet pile all over the damn place.

Rehooked up the hose, put the brush away, press the power button... Vacuum gives a little 'whee!' like it's starting up and... nothing. Press it a few times. Change power outlets, twice. No luck. My vacuum cleaner has died. I'm sad but not super sad. I'm sad because it was little and my friend gave it to me as a housewarming gift 6.5 years ago and it was just perfect for my space and what I needed. Now I have to find a new one. Which I'm a little excited about, even if I can't afford one right now and I don't know how I'll be able to, except I'll have to find a way. I already did a little looking, just to determine that I definitely want an upright, and I should probably think about something with a bit more power.

As I was thinking that I maybe needed something specifically designed to deal with pet hair, I looked over at Guido and noticed that he's having a dream, cuz his toes are twitching :3 I just love watching him dream, when everything is twitching. So cute.

I had a bit of a strange nap. I woke up and moved, which is when Guido curled up at my feet, and then went back to sleep, but in the dream I had I was totally awake. I was making sandwiches on a cookie sheet with a space heater under my bed. Some of the sandwiches were little things like scallops or shrimp sandwiched in between Ritz crackers and then warmed up. And in my dream, I'd gone to sleep while they "cooked", and when I 'woke up' and pulled them out, they'd gotten over-cooked and gross, and somehow also dusted in icing sugar? It seemed so logical in the dream, and then I woke up for real going "wtf?"

I think I'll just finish off my lazy day with some knitting or reading.
