The Last Kingdom

I signed up for Shomi on Christmas Day so I could take advantage of their free trial, but in the last week or so I've been having problems with the service, and I don't know if it's because of the way I watch it or what. The XBox will freeze up and refuse to connect with its controller, so that's a hard-reset. The app on my tablet sometimes crashes, and it won't switch episodes seamlessly. I haven't watched it much through a web browser at all. But I got annoyed at having to restart one movie three times and went back to the PS3 and Netflix. There still isn't a lot I want to watch, but it's a lot nicer. It remembers my preferences and switches episodes without fuss.

So after I watched Far From the Madding Crowd, Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse, and season 5 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I decided to start on The Last Kingdom. So far I like it. I know it's based on books so I can't speak to the source material, and I don't know enough about the time period to pass judgement on things like town life and how historically plausible the costumes are, but I DO know that two-part grommets were NOT in use at this time.

I'm also really impressed at the amount of Scandinavian actors in this. Everyone is ridiculously pretty, especially the main character (except his moustache is a little sparse, but I suppose one can't fault him for that).

I have a con tomorrow and I have no idea what to wear!
