Jul. 2nd, 2016 01:01 pmTalked myself out of a sewing machine today. We saw it yesterday at Value Village, and not only can I not remember if it had the power cord/foot pedal, but after doing a little bit of research on it, the only reason I would want it is because it's "old". It was likely a late-70s Singer, and it was considered electronic. It had all the same stitches my Janome does now, and once I realized that, it became Not Worth It (tm). It's not really old enough to tickle my fancy, nor new/special enough. But I might go back anyway. It was only $20.
Lots of personal shit happening. My dad developed Bell's palsy overnight Wednesday/Thursday, and asked me to take him to the hospital on Thursday morning. It had gotten worse from the time I dropped him off to the time that my sister brought him back, but hasn't gotten any worse since. Doctor Google said early treatment (within 72 hours of onset) can bring back much of the motion in his face, but it will take time. For now, he has to tape his eye shut at night and put eyedrops in that eye, because there's not enough nerve control to keep his eye safe.
My aunt (whom we also received unencouraging health news of, today) gave me a large length of fabric. She thought it would make a good Victorian outfit, but it is painfully synthetic. Just now I thought of a few uses for synthetic, that it will probably fill those roles admirably, but I will not be using it for anything remotely historical.
I have Big Plans to fulfill this weekend, so here's hoping I can get started on them. My summer cold decided to come visit and I'm not feeling 100%. Cross fingers!
