At some point in the last month, I cut out some fabric for a second skirt to go with Evangeline. There was just enough to make a four-gore skirt, as one length of it had been previously cut at an angle. It was probably long enough for another set of gores, but I ended up using it to cut some of the fiddly things, a pocket and suchlike. It sat, then I put the pocket in and sewed the fronts, and ironed them, and they sat again. This time out on my ironing board, which lives in the kitchen, and was in danger of being used for things it should not be used for, especially with fabric laid out on it!

Last night I decided to make another cosplay costume for Animethon next month, and cut out my fabric, but this morning I decided to finish the skirt before working on something new. So now it's done! I put it on Josephine-the-dress-form, which has been wearing Evangeline-the-costume since I made it, and it's super pretty together and I love it. My plan is nearly complete! I'm trying to decide on what colour the apron should be made of. In the movie it's green, but since mine is in shades of blue, I'm leaning towards pink. And technically, I don't know that it really matters, since in the movie she has a striped skirt instead of a solid, matching or otherwise.

I was really in love this morning. Making the skirt was SO satisfying, and starting on my cosplay. I could only go so far with the cosplay because the fabric is BRIGHT pink, and all of my thread in shades of pink is really really pale. And while I was doing that, I was texting with a friend about making other cosplays for future cons, and it made me so happy. I was telling Nicole back in May some time about my identity crisis, and the "whhyyyyy" I was having, and she replied that it was to win contests cuz we're amazing. But contests has never been my answer, never ever ever. This morning was the first time since April, possibly longer, that I felt that creative joy. Amazing what some simple pieces of cloth can do.

Then I pulled out my ruffler foot and a petticoat I started 12-18 months ago that I was putting off because it was 8 60-inch-wide panels gathered to 4... I had to rip the first stitching out and do it again. The ruffler worked VERY well, nearly 4:1, which was too much lol. But maybe my panels are too much? Maybe the pattern was meant for 45" wide fabric and not 60"? Not that I used a pattern, I couldn't find it when I made it, and I can't find it now. But a 480" hem seems just Too Much for a single mid-late Victorian petticoat.

I'm also trying to work on a fanfic I started 10 years ago, but I really hate it now. I don't know that I can finish it, or if I should just mark it as never-to-be-finished and cut my losses. My writing has changed a lot since I first wrote it. I have a couple others I should consider as well.
