I feel like i got a lot done today though its not really reflected on my list. The 1830s gown is done except for closures and sleeve supports. The redingote hem is pressed and trimmed and has the first pass of twill tape attached. Im feeling the soreness in my fingers. Ive been sewing for pretty close to 12 hours, most of it by hand, so its time to stop lol

I dont even want to think abiut what's left to do. I really need caps to cover my hair but i don't know how im gonna manage tje sewing of them in tje next couple days.

And now for something completely different: hair talk (aka my hands arent busy and i feel a little squirrelly but its too early for bed)

Over a year ago a couple of my dance buddies changed their hair routines. One did not know how curly her hair could be, and the other knew but wasn't taking any special care of it. I offered them some of my old hair products, since my hair curls when its wet but otherwise barely manages a wave when dry, and it wont hold past day 1. They both gave me a Look. Are you sure byiu don't have curly hair? They asked.

I remember my hair as being stick straight until about 1987 when i got a perm. Its def not straight, but i didnt think of it as curly. It doesnt really hold heat curls, it'll take wet ones, there's no point flattening it if theres any humidity, it'll just poof up but look terrible, it tangles really easily... But i decided to look up some info on caring for curly hair, and immediately removed shampoo from my routine almost completely. I had been shampooing only my roots (thanks to a "lazy" hack lol) and otherwise using conditioner only.

My hair is also really dry. Partly thanks to my HBC, i think, cuz being off it turns my skin and scalp into a grease pit. I had also been using BioSilk pn my hair, but stopped that a month ago. Its been really humid here (literally had 3 thunderstorms last night, nd one today) so my hair was dry but also not SO dry that i felt i needed to weigh it down with oils or a hair mask.

For whatever reason, curly hair was on my mind last week. I watched some YouTube videos about how to wash and be-product your hair. What magic is this?? I gave it a shot the very next day with my usual conditioner and some mousse. The result was some cute waves that lasted more than 2 hours. Win!

Then i did some more research and decided to get some silicone free conditioner, becaue3 guess what, every hair product i own except the mousses have silcone. I used another mousse too. I did this one at night to see what would happen. The parts i slept on were flat, but the ends were pretty curly, and they lasted a couple days.

The amount of info out there is frankly overwhelming. My dance teacher (one of The aforementioned people who started this last year ans whose hair is now redonk curly) walked me through the main points. The conditioner i bought is actually not "approved" because of mineral oil in it, but For the first time EVER im about to wash my hair without harsh cleansers or silicones. Kinda excited to see what will happen (and accepting i may not see results right away; this is at least 30 years of abusing my hair since that first perm)
