Home! (The short version)
Feb. 14th, 2023 06:58 pmI was SUCH an anxious ball of FEELINGS in the days leading up to the trip. Wednesday I packed and headed south late in the afternoon, after doing groceries with Roomie M, as we were flying out the next morning from the city my friends live in. Predictably, i did not sleep that night.
Thursday we had a good flight, if a little bumpy with turbulence. It was sooooooooooo warm when we landed, we were so happy <3 Picked up the rental car and drove from LAX to south of Irvine (the name escapes me atm) where our host lives. And then had to drive back to DISNEYLAND!! First time for me, and it was AN EXPERIENCE. There were A LOT of people there. They closed early too, so we had to maximize the time we spent there. We crossed over to the other park just after 7, and were out of there by 9pm.
Friday was the concert we were actually there to see, and it took up basically the whole day. Getting ready and a quick Target run, then 2 hours there, 2 hours waiting in line until the doors opened, then they had technical issues which delayed the concert by an hour. It was AMAZING. I can't even describe how much I enjoyed it. We got out of there at nearly midnight, and then the trip back, which was only an hour and a half lol. Finally sat down to eat our late night noms at around 2am.
Saturday we went to Legoland. I was so peopled out, and I got motion sick on the ride down. But we had HUGE swathes of time being able to look at the ocean, and had a Moana sing along. This was the coolest day, and we even had a sprinkle of rain move in. After, the entire house headed out to get ramen and it was delicious. When we got back, I was still peopled out so I basically put myself to bed.
Sunday we did Universal, which was really fun. The only ride we ended up on was of That Which We Do Not Speak. We rationalized it with the fact that we already had park tickets, and none of our issues had anything to do with the staff working in said park. I ended up separated from my group due to our party of 5 being split, and the person I was with was too heavy for the bars to close safely. I got stuck on the ride twice, and so did the party of 3, who asked to do it again. I did not care enough to do that. The rest of the park was fun for me, I even got a selfie with Blue the Velociraptor! We shopped a lot and ate a lot and it was great.
Monday was travel day, alas! Our flight was delayed by nearly an hour, and we got back to my friend's house at like 11:30 pm. I decided not to drive home (3 hours) because... it was very late. My drive today was easy, in daylight. Sad my vacation is over, but glad to be home!
