I woke up at 330 am this morning and I am LE TIRED. It's going to be a long-ass day, and thankfully the coffee is plentiful.

SO. Friday night I finished cutting out the dress wot needed to be partially cross-grain and lined with a different fabric. I intended to start sewing it, even did one of the steps, but then it was time for dinner and roomies wanted to watch Super Mario Bros (very cute). Saturday morning I started sewing it and made it most of the way through the bodice construction before lunch.

Y'all. Rookie mistakes were made. I removed length from the upper part of the bodice and did the FBA. The FBA added width, which I accounted for in the back and skirt pieces. But it also added length below the bust, and I forgot that. My front and back seams did not even come CLOSE to matching, there was a 1.5" difference. I tried it on over my shirt and thought everything had gone horribly horribly wrong. And I have literally scraps left, I could probably piece out a back extension but that was it! I cut the side down and angled out to nothing at CF. I still needed the length there but could sacrifice a bit on the side. I hoped.

Sunday I put the skirt together, glad now that I had 11" tall panels for the skirt ruffle bc I was going to need to make up some of the length from the bodice! I ran out of thread just after seaming the ruffles, so the hem is done in a different shade but it's so far from any other visible stitching, no one will notice. Got it all together and put it on and... it's so cute. The bodice length is fine, and I'm glad I did it the way that I did. It pulls a bit across my chest and the neckline is super narrow, I probably should have made the next size up, but oh well. It's cute! It has pockets!

Also on Saturday, we decided to go through the kitchen and oust any kitchenware that we for sure were not going to keep. We packed 3 full boxes (and not piddly ones, the kind that clothing store shipments come in) and then some bags (mostly of cookbooks, but one of glasses too) and then decided we needed to take it the thrift store RIGHT NOW. So it's out of our house and off our minds.

But we packed a little TOO aggressively. I went to prepare a muffin tin for yorkshire puddings with dinner last night and discovered that we'd given away ALL of the muffin tins. Every last one. Whoops! I made it in a small cake pan instead, so it was flat and then I cut it into triangles lol. Still good.

Yesterday I went out to meet a friend for ice cream, we haven't seen each other in MONTHS, so we sat in a park and ate our ice creams and chatted. It was lovely! Alas, I gave myself a sunburn doing it. Well done, me.
