Had a lovely weekend, really. Saturday I was pretty ambitious and did several house things (vacuuming, unpacked two boxes, dishes [always dishes]). I laid out the nice firm cotton and cut out the interior layers for Cassandra stays (the blood sacrifice was paid to the pattern). Gathered some materials and made not one but TWO project bags. Sunday I went out to get groceries, made a second project bag, and cut fabric for a third. Mid-afternoon, I decided to walk to the library to pick up my hold. It was COLD!!! The temperature itself was fine, and would have been nicer had it not been cloudy, but it was FUCKEN WIMDY and the wind was BITTER. I was a little better prepared, with a thermal shirt, padded vest, windbreaker and headband. On the way back I was at least walking WITH the wind so with the hood up, it was tolerable.

Strangely, a man driving through the main intersection found it very important to have his passenger window open and yell across his passenger "YOU LOOK WEIRD!" (I think; the couple crossing the street with me also wasn't sure what he yelled). We were all three dressed appropriately for walking outside and I really don't know which of us he was yelling at. OK buddy, good luck out there!

Late Sunday, I was in the middle of cooking dinner when my friend reached out to let me know that the cat she'd been taking care of for the past 10-ish years, that had come to her in a roundabout way from me, had passed earlier that day surrounded by people who loved her and the vet who'd been looking after her for the past year. With the beanies' birthday yesterday (yes, I sang to them), I'd been thinking about this kitty and her sister who lives with another friend, because they will be 15 years old on April 9/10! I spent an hour sobbing. This was a kitten who chose me the same way that Sophie had, by climbing up onto my shoulder and falling asleep, but I was not in a position to take a kitten at that time so I found her a home. Im so glad she had a good one but oh, it was crushing news. Also one of my fandom friends is losing her 21-year-old pupper today and it's just... a lot. HOW do these little creatures leave such huge holes??
