Got home yesterday juuuust as a thunderstorm was starting. I had to close the north side living room window because of the rain being driven in by the wind, so it was just as well that my planned task was on the south side of the house, which was getting lots of air and atmosphere but not driving rain. YIIISSSS.

Committed to the task by first changing my sheets. Calcifer "helped" of course, and I feared for my hands for a little bit but completed it without losing any skin. Moved a box to the linen closet, a bin to the kitchen for storage tonight, shuffled the other bin around, which is missing its lid (it broke between the flooded apartment and the townhouse) and put two boxes into the closet. A bag of fabric got moved into a box which was half-full and had been barely supporting the kittens' favoured quilt-cum-bed. Vacuumed twice to ensure nothing got left behind, put some clothes away, put some other things away. Would have started the sheets in the laundry, but since I have to leave the house to do it and it was POURING... it did not happen. Perhaps tonight, otherwise they will be packed into an IKEA bag for obvious "this is going to be done soon".

Once that room was done, I made a food and did a pan of dishes, and then at last took a shower! I did not wash my hair since that takes so much more effort, and also I'd like to recolour it. I will do it soon though! After ALL OF THAT, it was 8pm and I was done. I'd put moisturizer on my feet so I put on cat slippers to keep my feet warm and read a book for an hour. I was SO TIRED that I climbed into bed properly at 9:30.

Today, the last day of prep, I will be doing the kitchen, bathroom and hallway. These are, arguably, the easier rooms. Sweeping and wiping and one more vacuum, and putting the errant bins into the pantry storage. I will scoop the litter box and collect ANY AND ALL garbage and recycling items to be taken out (which will be extra good if I can do laundry, because the bins back onto the laundry building! Double-task completion!) Final sweep of the little bits and things, maybe put a couple things into the car (like stuff for the thrift store or the re-use centre) and I will have done all I could reasonably do in three evenings' time.

Could I Have done more on the weekend? Probably, but a lot of what I need to do is like, take one of those fabric bins and pull out EACH AND EVERY PIECE. Hold it in my hands and think, do I have a project I could use this for? If no (most will be no), does this piece spark joy or am I holding onto it "just because"? And then document what I keep with a photo and notes on fibre content, width and length, repack the bins and put them away again. THEN arrange for the non-joyful pieces to get out of my house. It is going to be a process and I solemnly swear that as long as things go well and I don't have to move again, I will do this summer!

Tomorrow, after it all, I will just chill. I want to put a buttonhole in my Meriam trousers before I put Jenny the Janome away again, and I had the button in the pocket but it's wandered off again. I think I know where it is. And then -- Anything is possible! Do I do a modern project or a historical one? Do I fight with my kittens' attention to knit, or???
