The heat has finally broken. Today's expected high is 22C/72F, it is cloudy and there is a very strong chance of rain later. It is unfortunately also smokey from forest fires and a local-ish tourist destination was evacuated because of one earlier this week.
My friend's event was cancelled due to air quality and weather conditions. Nothing exciting happened that I could tell, but the air was very weird indeed. Around sunset the light got very very very yellow, it was really weird and unusual.
New fan is great, it is SO QUIET. I was rather comfortable and the kittens even took turns trying to sit on me. It didn't last long, but it meant they were feeling the heat a little less too! I decided it was OK to try and cook something and that was a mistake, it got SO HOT in the kitchen. Maybe today will be better, but last night wasn't.
Cross stitch is proceeding apace, but I need to work out how I want to hold the frame and stitch, my shoulder is pretty mad at me. The tightness at the back has lessened but now I'm feeling fatigue. I've been working my way down into the bottom right corner with the roses and I am getting a lot of satisfaction out of filling in the spaces.
I went to brush my teeth last night and got the toothbrush cup from under the counter. So placed so the kittens don't knock it over and break it as it is a ceramic mug that was a gift. My brain just registered "foreign object" as I dumped it over the sink and an enormous spider fell out. It scrambled around in the basin trying not to be washed away while I stood there and stared, cup in one hand, toothbrush in the other, water running. OH MY GOODNESS!! I said very loudly. OK, water off. Cup to the sink to be washed. Toothbrush trashed. Spider is now trying to climb out of the sink and only partially succeeding. I get some cardboard to place in so that it can get leverage and peace the fuck out of there. Sorry not sorry, I did not brush my teeth. In the AM, it had either been successful or Sophie ate it, it was long gone.
Tonight I really need to do laundry and figure out another low-heat meal.
