Aug. 6th, 2024 09:11 amGetting up was *so hard* this morning. Long weekends are never long enough.
Delayed my blood donation appointment from Friday night to Saturday morning bc I was really, really tired. (sleeping is for weaklings, of course). Did I feel "well"? No, no I did not, I was exhausted. I did not sleep well on Friday night either but at least I didn't have to get up at 630 and I got a second sleep in. Wasn't sure if I would be able to donate, I'd only been taking iron pills for about a week consistently, or perhaps my temperature would be too high, but it was all good and I donated in record time! I was a few minutes early for my appointment so I was in the screening room and out again at my appointment time, and out the door 40 minutes later. I lingered in the rest area after because a: why not, and b: they had ice cream!!! So it took a bit longer to eat my snacks anyway lol. Then I went to the thrift store (where I purchased a bag of kitchen items that I mostly got for the two small whisks inside, and an old sci-fi book I love and had to toss) and then the grocery store (bc I'd tried to drink my coffee black, the cream did not smell good, and it is not good enough coffee to drink black).
On Sunday I had a "crafternoon" where a local indie theatre played a movie and left the lights up so we could craft while we watched! It was so fun, and I got a good chunk of my socks done. I hope they do it again, I had such a good time.
The rest of the weekend was lumping around and cross stitching. I'd added a row somehow in the bottom corner so I fudged that flower and carried on. That corner is now almost completely done!! I was so excited to be done with one colour only to discover that I'd done that wrong too. And it was at the end of that thread, so it was easy enough to pull out but... Also a pain. And I don't have any reason to cut new lengths just yet, of course its a two-colour section, etc. Meh! I'm going to start going across the bottom now, and I'm sure to make more mistakes.
I was also very brave and watched new things! I watched a movie called My Fault, which is a Spanish movie that I watched dubbed. It was cute. Then it suggested Maxton Hall after so I started that, and I absolutely loved it. It is in German, which I also watched dubbed, but then I started watching it again with my German friend and this time I watched it with the German audio. It is just so good. It's based on a book series which is unfortunately not in English (yet?), I want to read them but alas!
I did sew a little, yesterday after a big storm rolled through the night before and cooled everything down. I was working on the Nicks dress, only to discover that my initial waist casing is too narrow for the elastic. I think I should remove the lower stitching since the top stitching will hold it all in place.
I really ought to make that stays mock up because my first event is in a little over a month away. My friend reminded me that she can put out anything I want to sell at her booth where i'm helping, so that bin is definitely going to come with me.
More things I "should" do in the very near future:
-Pull out said costume bin to itemize, measure, and mark each piece for sale.
-Start cataloging fabric...
-...in prep for the whole 30 fabric challenge!
-Housework. Boring!
Randomly reminds me that my upstairs neighbours are moving out. They had an IKEA flat deck cart that I noticed on Friday morning (and thought some jerk had abandoned it) and spent the entire weekend until at least midnight last night shuttling things back and forth.
