Friend M has decided on a cycling outfit. I pulled out the wool skirt I made in 2022 and tried it on just over my regular clothes and... it's too big now. I'm sure it closed when I made it, but it never got closures. Now I'll have to take the waistband off and repleat it. Petticoat should be ok, it has a drawstring in the waistband. Corset mock up came out too, and it is also OK. I think. Could still use more room in the hips but that's an easy enough fix. I do need to make a more proper version with boning to test the fit. I'm not sure if it just felt pinchy bc it had no support or was I maybe not prepared for it?

I moved the sewing table back against the wall, which enabled me to set up the lamp I bought and move the cords out of the middle of the floor. A local yarn dyer was hosting a virtual crafting night, so I joined in and worked on the Elsie blouse while everyone else knitted or crocheted. It was nice, a small group of really excellent people who had the Correct Opinions (tm). (One crafter said that her mother tried to tell her 3 yo child not to eat whatever kind of snack, it would make her fat, and mother has not been invited back to the house since.) We griped about perimenopause, discussed music and concerts, and Nathan Fillion. A lovely evening and I made good progress. The bodice is just awaiting sleeves, and the sleeves are awaiting cuffs. Then buttons all around and it's done!

I keep putting this weekend out of my mind. There will be lots to do besides the memorial stuff. I have the next two weeks of evenings to work on sewing, and two full weekends. I have to make stays at the very least. Considering AD's Simplicity pattern, with fur trim on the overgown. Hmmm list time!

Absolutely must make
  • Regency stays of some sort
  • Edwardian corset (Black Snail)

High priority
  • Regency petticoat - refit (can do this once I arrive)
  • Regency gown(s) - investigate fit of white (summer 2019), bring red silk gown on trip to have K fit the sleeves with me. White gown has a train that is not very suitable for dancing
  • Overgown if I make a new gown
  • Finish Edwardian blouse
  • Refit the skirt

Would be nice but very low priority
  • Waistcoat
  • Different blouse to go with the waistcoat
  • Whole-ass evening outfit for the dinner

Hooray for lists, that gave me some clarity on what NEEDS to happen. Some of these can be started here and finished there, or even almost all sewn while there. I will not have time to finish any of the Edwardian stuff once I get back, beyond maybe some buttons or other closures. I get back on the 13th and the dinner is the 14th. So all of the decisions need to be made real soon.
