An event!!
Oct. 16th, 2024 09:47 amKnitting Friend T asked me if I wanted to join her for a Lucy Maud-themed dinner at a local book store. HELL YES!!!!! I have never read Anne of Green Gables, but like any good Canadian, The Road to Avonlea was a TV staple in my house, and the Anne of Green Gables movies with Megan Follows were also well-watched. I sent it to costume friend M, who is also a fan, and she is going too! Of course we are now planning what to wear lol.
M suggested evening wear, not formal wear and I think that's a swell plan. Then she said "maybe a cycling skirt and one of my sweaters..." lol. I know I have time to make something, especially since I've already got some of the underbits prepared. Petticoat, check. Frilly drawers, check. Corset, mocked up but somewhat confident on the fit and have fabric and a busk, check. Bust pads, check. I have a heavy wool skirt made, it would just need a blouse (have a pattern) and perhaps a vest (also have a pattern). Especially since this event is right after I get back from my trip, I don't have AS much time as I think I do. I definitely don't have time for Fancy. It might just be Practical.
