totchipandaArrancar Orihime Costume history:
April 30: MUST COMMIT TO COSTUME. Nicole wanted me to do Shinku, but I decided that why should I rush that one when she wasn't going to have her matching Suiseiseki finished? Decided on Arrancar Orihime instead. I'd originally planned to buy one on eBay and save myself the trouble of making it myself, but I ran out of time to order it in time to have it for Otafest.
Cost of patterns, fabric and 3 meters of black bias binding: $67
Spend a few days dicking about with patterns and make a mock-up out of bright pink flannel for the cape. Really, I'm not terribly interested in getting it done at this point. I have lots of time (2.5 weeks) but I also know how fast that time will pass.
May 3: Iron Man :D
May 6: spend most of the evening lying on the couch with a migraine. Icky. Tell myself that this is the last day of dicking around. Tomorrow, I will crack down on myself and get to work.
May 7: Finish up patterns and cut out dress, and pin it up in preparation for sewing the next day.
May 8: Dress is largely sewn together and ready for binding :D However, I am 4 inches short of binding. DAMNIT.
May 9: Pick up more binding. Approximately 11m purchased. Cost: $12.00. Stitch it down in a different fashion. Finish dress, start work on cape.
May 10: Trip down to Drumheller :D No progress made. This is the VERY LAST DAY I can not-spend on the costume!
May 11: Mother's Day. First we go to Ikea, then to the Mall and have lunch and watch Speed Racer. Get home and continue to work on cape. It gets sleeves and binding, hooray!
May 12: Do hand-work on dress and cape, stitching down facings and attaching a closure on the cape. Start on hakama, and decide that with two nights left to work on them, I can take a break for the night.
May 13: Worked late, total write-off.
May 14: finish the hakama in a really fast, slap-dash style. Eh-heh-heh.
May 15: slacking.
May 16: Pick up some things I need. White flip-flops, black socks, white tape, a white tank-top to hide my undergarments. Costume is more or less done.
