I woke up with the WORST migraine I've had in a long time. Usually, they just come and ache. If I'm lying down, they tend not to hurt too much as long as I stay still. Not this one. It ached all the time. I had a feeling it would be like the last time this happened, when I had to go get Tylenol from Dad's place and wound up puking it back out 'cuz being upright for more than a minute made me nauseous.

Sure enough, got up to pee and fetch the drugs from my purse. Lay down for a couple minutes. Took 2, called my boss to tell her that I was going to be late because I couldn't move without getting sick. A few minutes later, up again to potty, and just as I was washing my hands, blah vomiting.

Upside: I felt better after that. Next time I'll try just puking before doing anything else and see what happens. I doubt it could hurt more.

Took more drugs and dozed for a short time before going to work. I've had a lingering headache all day, my tummy isn't precisely happy but it also isn't rebelling too badly, and of course there's the ever-present feeling in the back of my throat from horking up nothing but pill capsules and stomach acid.

And you know what I think triggered this one? Water. I don't think I drank enough water over the last couple days to keep myself properly hydrated, and whammo, migraine from hell. Possibly the increasingly improving weather played a part, but I know I haven't been drinking enough. Fellow con-goers, please harass me if you don't see me drinking or with one in hand/nearby. This is a regular occurance at cons for me despite me trying hard not to let it happen.

I WILL be telling a doctor about this next time I see one, in the next month. This is getting ridiculous.

Darn it, I think I'm going through the same thing! Same reason too, or well one of the reasons, hardly any water. It wasn't a migraine, but it was a small headache which started from 3:30 yesterday and lasted until midnight. I also consumed lots of caffeine in the last week. Last Tuesday and Wednesday I had two espressos each per day. Friday, coffee; Saturday, nothing; Sunday, espresso and coffee; Monday, espresso; Tuesday, coffee and espresso. Yesterday, just water, and tea, but ouch. Today, espresso. Yikes that's creepy, anyway, hope you get better :).

From the sounds of it, yours was a lack of caffeine headache - you usually have one or two espressos, and yesterday you just had water and tea, which doesn't have nearly the same amount of caffeine in it. That's the problem with caffeine - your body gets used ingesting a certain amount of it fairly quickly, and when you take it away you will most certainly feel some ill-effects. I had a lack-of caffeine headache for three days after I had to stop drinking black tea.

Hope that helps!

Doctor is good. I saw one about my somewhat increasing migraines, and I got a pill called Zomig! I just like the name. Apparently is expensive though :( And don't you know that I haven't had a really bad one since and so I haven't even gotten to try it?

My boss gets migraines too. Only hers paralyzes one side of her body :S

I mentioned Zomig without reading your reply!! Oops.

I do have to mention though that my migraines do the same thing as your boss's.. paralyze part of me and I'm unable to walk without crashing into things. Talk about the hunchback of Notre Dame...

But Zomig is a very good one. When I was able to take it the migraine was gone in 20 mins if I caught it early enough and I was free and functioning.

Unfortunately, little totchipandy-panda.. if insurance will not cover it IS expensive. So this would be something to gauge depending on how frequently you do suffer from migraines.

Paralysis? D: I am soooo glad my migraines aren't that bad. I know mine are still pretty mild as far as they go, but they're bloody annoying when they affect my day like that...

Hey there!

Long time no talk, but coming from an also migraine-ridden history I was curious about a few things and.. well, you've already mentioned talking to the doc.

Things to consider.. and if you already know them, I'm sorry, but since I'm never on instant messanger even tho I should be.. (eyeroll at myself).. I just go to bed SO EARLY and dun wanna send you msgs on yer phone.

Do you consume alcohol and find these happening? Even if not a pattern. You might be allergic to sulfites, which is why I can't have wine. INSTANT MIGRAINE. Also, caffeine. How much caffeine do you have daily or do you notice migraines might happen eight hours (or instantly) after consuming a soda, coffee, tea. Even if you have a history of being able to drink these things, you can develop an allergy.. which is why I can no longer have caffeine, even tho I was having two-liters in the past without a prob. A cup of tea at best.. after that BOOM. I'm missing most of work at work being nauseated in the bathroom and my head about to explode.

TMI:
Any trends with hormones that you've noticed? I tend to get (or I used to) a MASSIVE migraine that lasted my entire period and took me out the entire week. I would get a migraine that lasted two-three days AFTER my period.. and about mid-cycle when I ovulated.. yea, migraine. Apparently, birth control can also cause migraines.. so not to get too personal or TMI, but if you are on any pills for that it would be worth talking to the doctor over because there are many diff hormone formulas and maybe yours just drops too suddenly in a certain hormone = migraine.

Weather and allergies... and, of course, like you mentioned.. not enough water.

While I'm not going around trying to shove pills down yer throat.. have you tried one of those medications that goes under yer tongue and dissolves? You pop it at the first sign of a migraine. I think one of them is called Zomig here in the US. Used to work wonders for me until I changed birth control a million times.

Then I was on Depakote which is also a psych drug.. which might not be right for you. It's the one I'm getting off of now because my fat little body is like "YAY CALORIES AND FAT I KEEPS YOU!!" but it is also used to treat migraines. I do have to say for that one.. the entire time I have been on it, NEVER A MIGRAINE AGAIN.

So you might mention that one to the doc too.. there are much much lesser doses than what I was on.

You can send messages to my phone ;) I have a nice unlimited texting feature on my plan.

I've cut down caffeine drinking a looooot in the last year to try and help myself sleep better. It could be BC-related? I don't really recall having them like this before BC, but I've been on and off of it for the last 8 years or so, mostly on, and most of the worst headaches I can remember have been while I was on it. Though I do recall some when I was a teen that had me laid up for hours, long before taking BC even crossed my mind...

Uhmm.. not sure about other hormones though, I JUST took the last pill of my last pack the same night I had the migraine. I really think water was the cause, I had one glass of water after I got home, and I'd barely drunk anything since noon, so in 12 hours, only 12oz or so...

Either way, I'm gonna mention it to le doctor and see where it goes from there. I rarely have migraines this severe, usually its contained with OTC migraine stuff (ultra tylenol has been my drug o' choice, but the 600mg ibuprofens my dentist prescribed for my tooth have been doing OK too. Obv. that isnt OTC but... yeah. Doctorness.)
