I decided to do Script Frenzy this year, and just about last minute decided to adapt Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey into a movie. It was semi-brought on by a comment my dad made after we saw Avatar, something about the animation and I said I wanted a Dragonriders movie NOW.

I'm woefully behind (page 24/42 as of today...) but in reading the text very closely, I came to realize that I am madly in love with F'lar. He is by far my favourite character, and Mnementh my favourite dragon. By FAR. It was somewhat disconcerting. As much as I love the series and huge chunks of the cast (especially Robinton), looking back on my 17-year-history with this series, he has always been my favourite. It's a little weird to think of even now.

I promptly texted my dad and blamed him for it since he's the one who handed me the books and told me to read them. He seems to think I started with the Harper Hall trilogy, but I KNOW I started with Dragonflight, as it took me 4-6 months to start reading it, and I found it dry as hell until after the duel with Fax. (And then it was awesomesauce and I couldn't put it down.)

I think that could have been the reason why I did not enjoy The Skies of Pern when it came out. My beloved characters from Flight were pushing 70. I didn't (and still don't) want to think of them in... that state. Aging and reaching the end of their "usefulness".

I still want a movie. NOW.

Unf, F'lar. I always hearted T'gellan, myself. Then again, I have a really REALLY odd disconnect with a lot of the book characters; my RP history started sixteen years ago (jesus christ) with Pern MU*s and you could not even dream of playing a canon character. They didn't even EXIST. So when I think F'lar I think 'oh hay that's that one Weyrleader that we all say is around but NOBODY EVER SEES'. Lol Pern MU*s.

Is this what you were working on during the convention? Because if it is then WHY WAS I NOT READING OVER YOUR SHOULDER oh that's right I was messing around with other stuff and playing with Pokemons.

Which reminds me that I seeeeriously need to steal my brother's DS because there's a crapton of Pokemons I want/need to swap around between my games. I can has Ditto in Platinum now?

Oh, T'gellan was a sexy beast... and I had a soft spot for N'ton too. I joined a few play-by-email games back in the day, but quickly dropped out because I was horribly shy didn't want to ruin other people's characters by including them in my stories D: They were big on NO CANON CHARACTERS too lol.

That is indeed what I was working on :D However, I've scrapped everything I wrote (since I didn't get very far anyway) and started over, and I like it much more now :) This is also why my pokemoning has been slow, I'm still dreadfully behind on the script :(

N'ton was so adorable, I wanted to pinch his cheeks. The whole NO CANON CHARACTERS was an edict from Ms. McCaffrey herself; basically we could play in her world but we had to (sort-of) play by her rules. No canon characters, no relatives of canon characters, no Benden Weyr, no Ruatha. No non-canon dragon colors. We didn't quite adhere to her strictures about gender match to dragon color, other than gold and bronze...she caved on that eventually though. Eventually. So it was a very very structured sandbox with rules, but we still got to play in the sandbox.

Well, uh...GO GO GO MOTIVATIONAL TALK GOES HERE WHEEEE. XD Pokemoning going slow is fine; I srsly just want a Ditto so I can make a ravaging horde of Eevees. Lucky for me the Eevee I got in Hearthome in Platinum was male so I couldn't just stick it in there with a same-group and get Eevee eggs. Fail.

I'm trying to train up a competition-level team. The national championships start with the Seattle regionals in a couple weeks and damn me if I'm not seriously considering taking a shot at it. Just because I'm a moron.

I thought that was the story, but I wasn't sure. In my badfic-writing days, I totally had a girly girl Impress a bronze dragon... that also got tossed to the recycle bin when I came across it earlier this year. Ah well, I went to FF.net on a whim and someone had created a dragon whose name didn't end in -th. I just couldn't read it :/

Yeah, that was the story. I started playing right before EPIC UPHEAVAL IS EPIC amongst the various MU*s; basically Anne Herself came down and slammed the tent peg of justice on everyone's head and said ok, you wanna play in my world, you play by my rules. I admit to my brownrider being a pretty girly girl, but in the world of Pern MU*s if it wasn't gold or bronze it was fair game. By the time I quit I had one of everything except bronze (because at the time I didn't play guys). Can I even begin to tell you how much of a pain in the patuckus it was to come up with a dozen unique -th names for every damn hatching?? *points at username indicatively*

YAY DITTO. I'm still up, let me grab my Platinum friend code -- what sucks is that you can get Ditto in Platinum but not until you get the National Pokedex and THAT isn't until after you've beaten the entire Sinnoh region AND maxed out the Sinnoh Pokedex. I AM NOT THAT DAMN PATIENT.

Lol. Just plain crazy. Have YOU ever tried to slam through and grab a shit-ton of legendaries and level the hell out of everything in two weeks? I guess on the plus side I'll have one very nice shiny game cartridge ready and waiting for next year's Sakuracon tourney.

hheheheeheh I can just imagine how hard that was XD I only remember two of the names, and one of them was given to me by the GM. I probably still have some epically bad fanfic on my HD or one of the discs somewhere. Oh, the "good ol' days". (I don't really see a problem with girls even on browns, but I guess when the sandbox owner says LUL NO,..)

DAMN DITTO. I seriously had to run away from a good 15 Drowzees to find one for you, and this morning I run into the grass to level Eevee a bit more, and WHAM, first pokemon I see is a Ditto. Grrrr.

I really haven't XD I've had Diamond for 2 years and I haven't finished the Elite 4 yet. A shiney cartridge is a good thing :D

*pokes you with spork*. I read 10 pages of an Anne McCaffrey book when I was 12. I think it was Dragonflight? I remember it had a green cover and a dragon on it! One of these days I have to read that book, it was pretty good. And I feel out of the loop with everyone talking about Pern!
