Say what? My Elizabethan dress is almost done? And I still have 2 "days" to work on it?
NO WAI.
After my last whining post about how I wasn't going to finish it, I cracked down on myself (and I was also told by
betsumiyareina that I wasn't allowed to work on Regency-era stuff until this was done, since it was already on the go) and just... worked on it. I was too terrified to cut into the blue wool (possible blend?) so I used this lovely dark green that looks like wool but isn't,and lined the bodice with the same navy linen I used to make last year's train outfit. Most of the major seams are machine stitched, but the important ones are done by hand.
The skirt blew my mind, really, 'cuz I chose last night to do the eyelets instead of ironing the skirt and attaching it. I thought it would take me longer but I got all the pleats right on the first try? In just 15 minutes? And sewed the entire skirt on in just under an hour? This never happens! But I got to try it on quickly before work, and when I got home, I put all the layers together (note to self: remake corset in front-lacing variety...) and nanced about for 10 minutes or so.
Am kind of in love with the look, fit, and overall period. I can't believe its nearly finished. Pictures will come on the weekend, I think, when I can have someone else take pictures.
So... it still needs a little work, and it needs sleeves. It's supposed to be redonkulously cold all week, so while I'm reasonably sure the hall won't be too cold by itself, it feels kinda wrong to be wearing narrow shift sleeves without anything to cover them lol. And I could use a hat, but that can wait a bit.
After all this, I am going to work on at least one Regency dress after finishing the short stays, and then possibly get back to more Elizabethan, as I still have a more "formal" gown to finish and 10m of lovely blue wool to cut into. And the costumes I need/want for the anime cons this year!
