Nanowrimo sucked up all of my time in November, and now that it's over, I have nothing to do*, so here is a post.

*Nothing is a relative term. I have lots of sewing projects I want to work on, but as I had wicked bad insomnia last night and only slept about an hour and a half total and then went to work for 9 hours, I don't really trust myself around machines or scissors. Here's hoping I can type coherently.

This was my 10th Nano and 8th win :D It was my first year as municipal liason (ML) and I had a blast. I'm REALLY lucky in that the other two MLs were veterans and fantastic ladies to boot, and also my region is better than yours (nyah!), plus we had a local pro writer participate and run a ton of his own events. It was a strange year in terms of participation; tons of new faces, events that were typically well-attended in the past were not, but over all I think it was a pretty good year. Maybe a transitional one; who know what next year will be like?

I ran with an idea I had in the middle of the month last year, and I can't believe I got enough material out of it for a whole novel. It's not a great novel (none of my nanos are; what do you expect out of 30 days?) but I think it's a decent one :) I used a new program this year, Scrivener, and it is WICKED AWESOME. I can't wait for my coupon code so I can buy it. It's the first novel I ever wrote in "chapters", which made it really easy to send to my team of readers as I finished each one. Hooray for readable chunks!

I saw the cosplay episode of Fanboy Confessional the other day, and I remembered people saying it was quite well done, and it was. It really got me looking forward to cons and making cosplays for next year :3 I definitely want to hit up Sakuracon again as I really missed it last year. Hopefully I'll be able to attend the two local ones too.

I still haven't wholly decided on what to do about my historical costumes, aside from the fact that I need to make new corsets for all of them before I can even consider the finished outfits. I'm simultaneously working on Victorian and Elizabethan. Victorian should still fit reasonably the same (skirts, at the very least) with the corset I have, and Elizabethan because it needs the most work. It needs to fit perfectly or else the ensembles will be a total wash, and if I'm spending that much time on the outfits, you better believe I want them to fit well and wear well.
