My brain is a weird place to be these days. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Last night I decided I needed to make a new shift and that I would sell the one I made last year and have never worn. Largely due to my sleeve issue, but now I'm thinking I need to measure the sleeve (course I can't remember how wide it is now) cuz every diagram I can find has sleeves 16" around or more.

This leads me into a trail of thoughts. If I do make a new shift, do o need new linen too? I saw a discussion on different online stores and their quality/pricing so I looked that up. Gah one store is nearly $20 shipping to Canada! With a weak exchange, that's damn expensive! (Maybe some other locals would like to buy in and split the shipping cost? But they only sell white which is fine for me but may not work for others, and also how do I contact these mythical others to ask?) One of the patterns I was looking at suggests 3.5oz, which I should still have roughly enough for a shift left over, so I'll look into that first before buying more. Ok.

I think I'd like to handsew this new shift... Must find linen thread.

Then I might as well revisit the stays I wanted to make a couple months ago. The pair I have are more mid-century and I'd like something more from the last quarter or so. Then what would I do with the pair I have? Sell them? And with that and the shift, they're actually perfect for Outlander costuming and I know I can convince my aunts to dress up with me for that.

O course then if I keep them for Outlander-related purposes, I have got to revisit sleeves... I don't know what I'm doing wrong, my sleeve pattern starts out fine, te mock up makes up perfectly, but then doesn't work when I use the exact same pattern to make the real thing? and they're too tight, part of the problem with the chemise sleeves, there's nowhere for the chemise sleeves to go except into my armpits.

Unrelated to sewing, I decided to give up the fight of not getting a tablet. Once I decided to do it, I started making pro/con lists on tablet vs electronics I already have (namely ereader and netbook) and then tossed the list out after three or four points. It doesn't matter, I already decided to do it, lists aren't going to make me change my mind at this point. The ereader is kind of it's own thing, it has a specific purpose and that's all it does and it can't be used for anything else. I use my laptop daily, it's my main computer, I have two other, obsolete computers I don't use and likely won't ever again (one is a laptop with usb 1.1 ports. No one uses those anymore, they were obsolete when this laptop was new...) so some decisions need to be made. While I'm at it, better decide what to do with my extra couch and a large chunk of boxes in my storage closet so I can get my fabric hoarde better organized.

I had an inspection a couple weeks ago so I better decide also what I want to do with my living situation soon. I'm expecting my rent to go up again - how much is too much?

See what I mean? Brain, slow down!
