I meant to elaborate on my tablet adventure, but I was posting from the tablet and the on-screen keyboard is kinda fussy lol. I had a lot of luck with my tiny Bluetooth keyboard but I didn't feel like hooking it up and also the R key popped off somehow. I got it sort of put back on but it's not perfect

So, I bought the tablet at the end of May after realizing that despite my assertions that I didn't need one, what with having a desktop, two laptops and a netbook, plus a smartphone, I still really wanted one. After 5 years (really), I still wanted one, so I just did it. Right from when I opened te box, I had issues with it not booting properly. It brought up error codes that didn't seem to indicate anything serious, and could be dismissed and booted properly with a reset. I loaded up a ton of apps and was generally enjoying having a tablet, especially on nights when j got home late from dance and didn't want to boot my laptop for an hour, but the tablet behaves more like a phone so that was ok. Especially once I hooked up Tiny Keyboard to type properly on.

But the boot issues remained. The on-screen sound would pop up and it would turn itself up to max volume and couldn't be cleared. the volume control booped as you turned it up, so it booped as it turned itself up. Sometimes it would randomly do that in the middle of the night and wake me up. After a month of increased booping and frustration, I reset the tablet to factory a few times to see if that would help, with no luck. So in early July I asked the manufacturer for help, and they directed me to send it back for repair.

That's when things went a little squirrelly. I sent it back the same weekend I busted up my tire. They got it the Thursday after. A week later, the day before Grampa died, they sent me a shipping notice. Woohoo! I thought.

One problem... They sent me my own tracking number. I'd sent it via FedEx (at their recommendation, and it did have the cheapest quote), and their email had that tracking number and company listed. Then Grampa died and everything got pushed aside.

Two weeks later, having seen no delivery notices on my door and having not had anyone attempt my apartment for entrance (it's tied to my cell, I definitely would have seen it even if I wasn't at home), I finally contacted them. My return authorization indicated it had been shipped via UPS and had the tracking number. That tracking indicated that it had been left at the world's sketchiest pick-up location, and was returned to the company for not having been picked up.

Well sure. I thought it was coming fedex, for one, and for two, I received absolutely no notifications of any kind except my own tracking number sent back to me. What?

After a few emails (one of which said that it had been returned via Purolator, get your deliveries right, people!) the manufacturer sent it out again, and I heard nothing. It did at least arrive this time, and I'd had it delivered to work while I was away. And now I have my tablet back! No more booping! Yaaaay!!

In other news, I got a new pattern last night :D it's the Laughing Moon regency stays. I'm super excited to try it, cording and all! And I kind of want to hand-sew it, though I'm not sure how good of an idea that is right now?

I also need to finish up the Mantua Maker stays for a display at the end of the month, so maybe I will work on that first. they're nearly done, just need the boning channels finished, boning put in, and then bound. Should be easy. I'll probably do that mostly by machine, I don't want to put a lot of effort into a piece I'm not excited about, and they've been sitting almost-done for like 3.5 years.
