Dec. 25th, 2015 09:47 amI'm a sucker for "deals", so when I saw that Shomi had a 2-month free trial instead of one, I decided to sign up. Just from their webpage, there was a good 4 TV shows I wanted to watch. It seemed like a good idea, so that's what I did this morning. Man there's a lot of good stuff on there. I'm about to go to nicole's for a bit, so I'm not watching anything right now, but I put Sleepy Hollow, Vikings, Outlander, Defiance, Warehouse 13, and Dark City on my list for later. Gonna be a good weekend lol.
One reason I resisted was because they don't have a PS3 app. In their email, they list an XBox 360 app. Well... I have an XBox 360 right now. I was going to give it back to Dad once I had collected everything together (including my brain, it's been fried for the last 2 months). So i told him this morning that it will have to wait, since I much prefer running things through my TV than the computer or tablet hehehe. I have a lot of those shows already, waiting to be watched, but I always feel like if I have to watch it on the computer, I "don't have time" for it, even if I'm doing NOTHING else. I watched several eps of Spartacus while I sewing binding on my stays, and even that felt like "too much". I don't have the same hang-ups with stuff streaming on the TV, especially since I like to "watch" while I'm sewing. The tablet is good for when I want to watch something while in bed. I don't know yet if Shomi will be like Netflix, where it plays 3 eps before asking me if I'm still watching, but I really love that. I don't have to sit through credits (unless the show is formatted that way, and rarely closing credits), it goes for a couple hours before I need to do anything, I don't have to select more than "play", it's great. Looking forward to it, and seeing some of these shows!
Also, I saw Star Wars yesterday and it was great.
Happy Hogswatch friends!

Date: 2015-12-25 11:09 pm (UTC)Uh, Ahem. :3
I wish I could run it through my DVD player (it has Netflix, but that's it) - I'm the same way about streaming on the computer, I'd rather download it to the TV so I actually -watch- it....

Date: 2015-12-27 07:52 pm (UTC)There is reportedly a PS4 app coming out soon, but I'm holding out to see if there's going to be a special FF7 version before I commit to buying one. The XBox is kind of a pain in the butt.
