Sakuracon 2006

totchipandaSakuracon. ehehehe. its only oh... 8 weeks late? No pictures for now ^^;
Nicole and Allan were absolute darlings, and split the cost of my "fare" between them as an early birthday present. Much love for you two. I had said that I wouldn't be able to go, because (you might recall) I had just had to put one of my darling kitties down ;___; and her care and final moments had cost a lot. So on Tuesday March 22, Allan and I roadtripped up to Grande Prairie to visit :D We left the next day, rather later than we had wanted to, bringing Nicole back with us. We stayed the night at Allan's and left around 7 AM to go to Beej's to start our trip :D
We got underway, really, around 9 AM. The start of the trip was quite fun, really, and there wasn't much to note. It was an interesting van, really. The back seat was half taken up with stuff, so me and Nicole shared it, while Andy, Will and Jay sat in the middle, kinda squished together (poor dears), and Beej drove while Allan took the passenger seat as back-up driver. There wasn't much of note on the trip, except for the DHL truck that had fallen off the road, our stop in Kamloops for dinner and a quick walmart run, and wanting to stop at a gas station in Bellingham, WA, for directions where Beej wanted to use his thickest Canadian accent.
We arrived, after missing the hotel twice, around 1:30 AM, which was 2:30 AM our time. The boys all got out, and I was just preparing to get out, when police were all over the street, and started yelling at us to get back in the car. We were told there was a man in the hotel with a gun, and one police officer was RIGHT outside the van while he loaded his shot gun. OMFG. We were like "it's totally a cosplayer with a prop" and "stuff like this doesn't happen in Canada". But it turns out, the hotel had been robbed about 15 minutes before we got there XD Will thought it was the most amazing start to our trip. We got into our rooms around 2:30 (3:30 our time aiyiyiyi).
Got up the next morning, things were a little crazy. Most of us slept in, except that we really couldn't. Beej had a panel at noon. We all had to register. We wanted to see Yaya Han's panel. We didnt even care what it was about, we just wanted to see Yaya XD We wandered, and chatted, and just generally had a good time. Nicole and I later went to the first doll meet (I arrived first, Nicole came later), where much fun and chatting was had. There were about 25 dolls, ranging from a Catsy all the way up to Kiyakotari's Hound. A lot of people left, leaving maybe half a dozen of us, including my dear second wife and her boyfriend <3333 (but she wasn't my second wife at the time ;) ) We wound up just standing around chatting, it was fun :D
That night, Andy, Allan, Nicole and I walked to Uwajimaya so we could have dinner at the little restaurant next door. After dinner, which was delicious, we stopped in at Uwa. It was 9:30, and they closed at 10, and THANKFULLY, Kino was closed XD I could blow so much money in there omg. We walked back, and hung out a bit more before sleeping.
Saturday, I dressed in my plaid loli outfit and carted Saki around in my arms. OMG is he heavy. I ran into![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
mako <3333333333333333 in the dealers room :3 Nicole was carrying him at the time and she stopped to ask who we had, and then I asked who SHE had peeking out of her bag, and then when she said Jessen and Kai, I checked her tag first to make sure it was her, and then glomped XD bwahahaha XD Another girl came up to me and said that my outfit and my red plaid coffin "purse" (case for Saki) had just totally made her day *ego stroke*
I went off to see Camino, which was pretty interesting. Not really my style (and DesRay, the bastards, are playing New York in three weeks), but enjoyable. The floor was shaking with all the people jumping up and down. Afterwards, I went down to go to the second doll meet LOL.danaka_dollfie was the only one there at the time; we were later joined by Mako and friend, one girl and her friend whom I had talked to earlier in the day (her friend had just been told about/introduced to dolls for the first time THAT DAY, and he wound up cuddling Saki for a bit XD), my dear second wife and her boyfriend again, and a few other people. There was about 25 dolls again, with maybe half that were repeats from the day before. LOL. We wound up sitting and chatting much later this time. We all split up around 8 PM, where i went back to the hotel because the cosplay was going on, and Nicole and co weren't expected back for some time. I was hungry, and went out in search of food.
No kidding, there is a starbucks every three blocks down there. But since it was already close to 9, everything was closed! I finally found an Elephant and Castle and ordered take out. I had just gotten back and was eating, when everyone showed up. Nicole got changed, and i finished eating, and we all went to Gameworks (?) for dinner. Except I got to live a dream; since I had already eaten, I just ordered dessert :D We had a great time, played some video games, and then around midnight I was tired and wanted to go back. There was supposed to be a party, but Beej told us later that it had moved several times and they never did find it...
The next morning, we were running HORRIBLY late. We thought that the wig panel we wanted to see started at noon, but it had been moved back to 10. We had to pack everything up and get checked out by 11 AM (it was more like 11:30). We got to the panel at 11:45, and then it ran about half an hour over. Katie Bair is so funny :D we learned lots. More running around, foodage (Cheesecake Factory OMG YUMMY), chatted with both mako and my second wife (who missed out on Cheesecake factory hahaha! XP ;) ) and pretty much just had fun. We left not long after the closing ceremonies, so around 6 PM we were saying good bye to Seattle.
We got back into Canada just before 10, checked into a motel for the night around 1 (and I had JUST spent 2 hours trying to nap and had just, just fallen asleep). The next day, we got underway around 10AM, and were back home around 9 :D
It was a really exhausting trip. After 34 collective hours in the car together, at least three of us didn't want to even speak to each for at least two weeks. But we're all good again :D
