I got sidelined yesterday by a killer migraine. I took a nap at 8pm and still made it to bed on time. I think it was probably the redonk wind that blew in Sunday (that i also drove home in), it was pushing the chairs and bbqs on the deck around, and nakedified some of the sunflowers. Its finally quit, and my head is much happier.

I couldn't get much sewing started today, since the car ride also made my back seize a bit, but i did get my redingote pattern finalized! Yaaassss!! I tried to do some other stuff but Guido was insistent on cuddling. Still, i got a cap patterned, measured a cravat, ripped a strip of silk for it (but it was too short and i need another, but Guido), found some needles that will go through that silk, and looked at the Butterick pattern i made the 1840s dress out of. I think the lining parts will work for 1830s too, if i go with a bigger sleeve and the bias trims heehee. I left my designs at work though, so thats a future project. Not a complete waste of an evening, really.

As an aside, i feel really weird about silk. Im not a militant animal rights person by any means but i hate the idea of throwing the shreddies (you know what i mean, from tje cut/ripped edges) away knowing that silkworms have to die to get their silk to make into fabric. Its so soft when i touch it, and the worm was sacraficed for it. At tje same time, im also aware that silkworms have been cultivated for over 5000 years and the ones that make fabric have been bred as to be unable to survive in the wild even if they hatched and matured, this is hardly a new process. But still... I feel bad for the worms :(

I hope your migraine has left by now! If not, then I hope it goes away soon.

I've used those tiny bits of fabrics before as stuffing for bumpads and such. I cut them up tiny and throw them in there like fabric confetti. I hear ya on being sad about the worms though.
