More homework

I guess I'm in an upswing, or else I am just SO HONKIN TIRED that I have extra energy? (I'm gonna crash so hard later) My coworker who usually opens has been very ill the past couple of weeks so I have been opening, which means I have my alarm set for 5:30 AM, but of course that means I don't sleep like at all. Last night I mostly dozed and I did dream about marble races and unfinished novels, but I was so tense so my neck hurts and I am going to be drinking coffee despite the lingering cough I have from last week. So, have a post.
I got a reply from my counselor from the long 1500+ word essay I accidentally posted here. My homework this time is to write a letter and then symbolically destroy it. I haven't started it yet but I am going to very soon. I C&P her message into a Word document, and it is 1.5 pages of message with assignments, and 6.5 pages of another essay on assertiveness lol.
Sewing wise I finally cut out all of my silk for the sacque I planned almost 2 years ago. I was so scared to cut into it, and frankly I'm still scared even now that it's all cut out. I'm modelling it after this extant at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I had bought 8 yards in LA in 2017 and I had JUUUUUUST enough for the sacque, a full matching petticoat, and strips of trim for the gown, but not the petticoat. I will need to remove some of the back petticoat in order to do that ruffle, but since that's totes period I;m not concerned about it at all. I also hadn't brought my measurements or hoops with me, so I used the pattern length for the petticoat which is WAY too long for me (47" at the side, and when I measured my hoops on Sunday my side measurement is 44"). I was going to tackle that last night but well, I slept like crap on Sunday night too and when I got home I lay down with the cat and turned my brain off. We'll see about tonight.
I'm prettysure all those loopies are some kind of metallic lace. I already looked on Etsy and eBay and the only one I found was a vintage supply of only 1.5 yards (/hears my project laughing at me). I'm gonna keep looking, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'll take 'em :D
CoCo friends, big hugs to you if you are sewing. I will miss you but I'm definitely not missing the deadlines. I think this is first time in about 15 years that I haven't had an event to sew for, and I needed it.

Date: 2019-07-10 04:21 am (UTC)Good luck with the homework! Writing assignments sound very therapeutic in a "we blog about things that we're feeling so it makes sense to write out emotions to help deal with them" kind of way, if that makes sense.
Your sacque is going to be awesome! I have the same fabric, in cream, probably bought at the same CoCo as you, and mine is still uncut. I hear that it tends to catch on stuff, so a heads up on that just in case you want to do a hem facing or something like that. The description says that the trim is looped silk, so you could probably find a rayon gimp trim if you want to go that route. But metallic would also be fun if that's what you want. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but here are some random things I found on Etsy (I may have done similar trim searches before when thinking about my own future sacque gown.):

Date: 2019-07-10 01:18 pm (UTC)Ooooh thanks for the reminder about it catching on stuff! I did have the longer threads of the dots catching on the edge of the table, didn't even think about facing it to protect them! I will definitely put a facing on now.
Ooooooh those are nice trims, and some I didn't find in my search! Thanks :D

Date: 2019-07-13 09:00 pm (UTC)And I feel the same as you do about having a break from CoCo sewing. I'm not even the tiniest bit sad about missing it this year. I hope you continue to enjoy your break!
