Rebranding

totchipandaI deleted my LiveJournal and all associated content yesterday. They'd emailed me about updating the password and since j dont actually agree with their updated TOS when they were bought and moved entirely to Russian servers. I was a little sad to lose access to a couple groups I kept for the content but I haven't even logged in for over a year and haven't been cross posting in a long time so. It was time.
I went on a trip over the past few days that got me thinking about other stuff. I went to the coast to see a Japanese artist I used to follow back in the early 2000s. Part of the reason I sometimes feel excluded is because I'm not new to LJ. I got my first one shortly after they came off of invite-only access. My GF at the time had had one and said hey you need to check this out. And I focused on music communities specifically because this was in the time of Geocities and Limewire and mailing lists, social media was NOTHING like it is today. Finding the communities and people who shared your interests was in its infancy. But over time and changing focuses I abandoned that journal and went to a different one and had totchipanda specifically for Niche Interest. I abandoned the other one again when it was no longer serving me.
And then time and technology changed but I'm still keeping up here because its more personal than FB or IG or whatever else. And I also appreciate the disconnect with something less immediate than real-time like those platforms.
And all that led this morning to thinking about separating my Intsagram into a more personal profile and making another more "on brand" one. I haven't given it too much thought yet, but I still have another long drive today. Itll be on my thinky meats.
