When time goes nyoom
May. 9th, 2020 09:35 amNyoom being the 3rd stage of kittenhood where their feet never touch the floor and they are blurs of fur pouncing from one speck of dust to the next lol.
I planned for this past week to be scheduled time off to have my apartment items delivered, but since i was off a week earlier, i had them delivered a week earlier. Nothing quite like seeing your entire life totally fill a 14ft truck, plus a tall bookshelf in the accompanying van. The crew was VERY efficient and had everything out and stacked in the garage in about 75 minutes. Thanks to COVID, they had to wear full dust cover suits, face shields and respirators. It was kinda funny, like that scene at the beginning of Hot Fuzz.
But holy shirt, i have a lot of stuff. I can hardly believe it all fit into that tiny apartment, and my biggest furniture items weren't even in there. I couldn't move much around because Nicole's stuff was still in the basement. She came last week and filled a third 16 ft truck (the first one was full-full, the second was low-full, and the third was mid-full) but holy CRAP none of us had ever seen the basement that empty. After i swept up, I moved any box or bin clearly destined for the sewing room down there, and set up a station to sew on if I so desired (and then made myself an apron). Then i had to take a break for a couple days because my fabric bins were HEAVY (and tbh were never meant to be moved) and even though i only worked for a couple hours a day, i overdid it. Im still waking up hella sore every day, although its probably more my extremely sedentary lifestyle and an overly soft couch.
My stepboss reportedly said that my site will take a conservative approach to reopening. They were early in the distancing and work from home initiatives, so that doesn't surprise me at all. It may be some time before I'm back to work. I was dealing with seasonal depression and the flood and all before this, i don't even know wjat my life looks like once it all settles down again. For now... keep on carrying on.
