Eyyyyy more than one post this month!

Not that I have anything interesting to talk about. The people coming for house tours did not show up and only one bothered to message 2 hours past her appointment time. No one else has messaged either of us since we put the latest rounds of ads up last week.

I was so mad about Book 2 of the series I was reading that I decided to read book 3? But Book 3 was the best one of the series. I'm still noodling on a full review. After I finished #2 I went to tumblr for fandom since AO3 was so sparse, and somewhere in there I read a post by the author (screencapped from IG i think) about how she started the series to deal with her complicated feelings about her home country having been colonized by the British. So one thing I WILL give the series points for is that it is by a brown girl, about a brown girl, with other POC main characters*. I just wish there was some lightness in the middle of the first two books, they were VERY heavy reads that were not particularly well written (IMO).

*The main male character is at least bi-racial. One of the best tumblr posts was "(mom)'s actions make so much sense when you realize that she is white, and he is not".

Now I'm kinda into it? The last book comes out Dec 1. How do I fandom these days? Back in the 00s it was all on LJ, and then there was the great exodus that lead to DW, and AO3, and then tumblr, but since their ban on "explicit" posts, which is highly arbitrary, where did the fandoms go?

I read most of book 3 on audio while working on a sewing project. Pinkmimosabyjacinta on IG was hosting a mini-dress sewalong on Saturday so I was a bad social media crafter and listened to the book while making a 1970 pattern minidress and taking ZERO pictures or even posting about it until it was done. It's knee-length on me, and it is SO cute. I made it straight out of the envelope though, so it definitely needs some adjustments.

I've been working on a crochet blanket, but yesterday I was too enthusiastic and hurt my bad shoulder. The blanket is made up of 10 squares across, and there is a LOT of measuring (which I do by throwing my arm out and measuring fingertip to nose tip with head turned away) of 20 little balls of 5.5 yards, plus a handful of extras to finish the one colour, and then all of the throwing out to separate the tails from each other. So, no crocheting today. Not even a little bit! Probably no knitting either. I'm going to have to find something else to occupy my time and hands.
