Sewing plotting
Jun. 7th, 2021 10:45 amBc writing things down helps me.
Tudor Summer / Borgia Girl Summer / Other Hot Renaissance Girl Summer
Now that my other shifts are nearly done, I can start on the hemd. Pretty sure I'm going to hand sew it.
Still haven't made a decision about the outer dress. I do have some linens? Is a linen overdress and wool underdress a done thing?

Did I post about the Elsie blouse? Once I made the adjustments and the correct size, it was great. I stood near my fabric bins and just went "but what do I make it out of?" and walked away. I would really like to get the sewing room set up better with the right tables and desks and be able to view my fabric easily or at least without needing to walk around other things. That would likely require some shelving though, and I think I would also like to keep it in bins just bc its a basement and there are spiders.
Um, focusing. So I have 8-9 pieces done or as-close-to-done-as-possible-without-being-done-done. I want to look at the collection as a whole. Some of it will be unmatched, made out of whatever I had lying around. But some pieces DO need to match, like I have a green skirt and a chambray shirtwaist, perhaps a pink striped shirtwaist is not the most ideal solution?
Definitely want to make a green wool jacket, and the orange gingham dress. That still leaves me with another 10 or so pieces to make.

My friend Meg is still working on her Circassiene, and since we twinsies a lot, I want to get started on mine. I wanted to get silk, but its not in the budget. I have some poly that might be "close enough". I definitely want cheetah print ribbon trim and tassels on the back and fur trimmed sleeves.
I do have some silk from Katie that I wanted to do a mid-century fashionable English gown - the side pockets, and pleated-down back and fluffy fluffy trim. I rarely see it represented in costumer makes.
I also want to make my Williamsburg print into something, finally. I can do either a jacket and petticoat combo, or I can do an Italian gown. I have not made an Italian gown since 2017, and I have done a lot of sewing since then.
I still need a butt-ton of trim for my sacque. Meg also mentioned starting a pet-en-l'air soon, and that's also on my "fabric bought" list.
